Saw a twitter thread that suggests Deshaun wants to go to Carolina, sabotage Rhule, get him fired, and push hard for BoB to replace Rhule. Obviously they were joking but I don’t think that’s a completely ridiculous notion. Would be hilarious on a multitude of levels.
It's funny. When this thread was started, I thought these hypotheticals were crazy. I never voted in the polls. Just voted for Carolina. Seems like OP may not be that far off. We may just end up with a player or two instead of three. And the pick would be better. Well done.
That Jets deal would be quite a haul, assuming that the 2 firsts and 2 seconds were this year. The Texans would have 3 top 10 picks and 6 of the first 38! And, if they were so inclined, they could flip Wilson somewhere else and get a nice return. All of that along with a likely Tunsil trade, and you’ve got an instant rebuild. They’d be crazy to turn that down, which means it’s very possible that they would.
I wouldn't want too many picks all in the same draft year, remember they will have to pay these guys and your payroll will increase when their contracts are due. Zack Wilson is interesting. I would like him or pick Malik Willis this yr and let him and Mills compete, then in 2yrs trade the backup. Teams always want QBs
I was also trying to figure out who would want him. Obviously, Texans would call all the teams that called about Watson since they don't have a guy. Panthers? Saints? Steelers? Raiders? Falcons? Colts? Vikings?
So you would roll with Davis Mills vs Zach Wilson? You'd have to assume that the #2 overall pick would fetch you a decent haul or maybe not? I'd probably let them duke it out in training camp myself. I'd love the picks, but wonder if you couldnt extrapolate the most value from them by having them staggered vs taking 2/3 of them this year? It would be nice to have multiple top 5 picks for the next couple seasons. Let them keep pick 10 and squeeze them for their 2nd rounders this year. Picks 35 and 38 could net some decent players. I'd say a Jets package if genuine would be at the top of the list followed by what Carolina could offer.
Even though Wilson played twice as many games in college as Mills, his progression wasn't as good as Mills in the pros. He also had an offensive line ranked #11 compared to Mills behind the 29th ranked offensive line. I'd rather get a couple of their offensive linemen and 2 first round picks this year and a 1st and second round pick next year.
In the end I just hope that Watson's long lasting legacy isn't one of a multiple Superbowl champion but instead the dude who liked getting his butthole doorbell rang.
I want to hear that he is meeting with the Giants and Eagles tomorrow. Some serious draft capital between those 2 teams.
