Solid decision, there's a TON of young women on campus that would let him do whatever he wants to them without any consequences. Probably his best landing spot.
If I'm Watson I identify my team of choice and I put out a statement saying that's the only place I'll go. Tanks his price so he gets to go whereever he wants without gutting his new team. Texans left holding the bag. That's why you never give NTCs.
If healthy (I know that’s a big if) he is certainly a needle mover. I don’t know why the Panthers would want to include him in a trade. Watson and CMC on the field together would be fun to watch. “McCaffrey’s dual-threat, running and receiving, puts pressure on opposing defenses, both during the game and in the days leading up when the opponent needs to devote time to preparing ways to stop him. When McCaffrey isn’t on the field, there’s more pressure on the quarterback — both mentally, since he feels he has to do more, and physically, from the opposing pass rush. Sam Darnold has certainly been a different quarterback since he lost McCaffrey. After completing 68.2% of his passes in the first three games, with one interception in 107 throws, he’s completed just 61.8% in the last two with three picks in 76 passes. His quarterback rating has fallen from 98.97 with McCaffrey lined up in the backfield to 65.57 without him.” https://nsjonline.com/article/2021/10/missing-mccaffrey-panthers-a-different-team-without-star-rb/
I think his agent understands that’s bad business. Houston has done right by Watson this past year and now he should pay it forward. Also the Texans could just refuse to trade him
Exactly. Saints and Panthers is a dream. More teams even better. I think Watson meeting with these teams is going to result in only one team being "his team". Maybe I'm just a jaded Texans fan...
Then I cant see New Orleans as an ideal partner. With our luck Watson will only waive his NTC to New Orleans and give us one last "FU" on his way out.
I like the odds of him going to Carolina more and more. Selfishly, yeah, I want the higher draft pick and to trade with the team with more young talent. They obviously make more sense than New Orleans on paper for the Texans. But between Carolina making cap cutting moves, Deshaun's connection to the Carolinas and the fact that the Panthers have shown interest in him since Day 1, I just think it feels like it's going to be the Panthers. Ultimately, though, as long as they get a solid haul in return and he's gone from this franchise forever soon, I'll be happy either way.
They may think they are. Watson may think they are. If the Texans do a trade with the Saints, it'll scream "settle." Besides, it'd be interesting to see that much money committed to the QB position.
Albert Breer: Carolina is willing to go the distance. There’s no question about that. They made an offer before any lawsuits were filed. They made a big offer before Houston was willing to part with him. Obviously lots has changed. They’ve been in this from the start. If not Carolina, the issue will not be the Panthers coming up short on draft picks or short on desire. It will be whether he wants to go there. He was unwilling to waive his NTC to go there last year. Matt Rhule will be fighting for his job in 2022. They’ll have to sell Deshaun Watson on going to Carolina. Philly will have to sell him to go there. Cleveland Pay attention to New Orleans Pay attention to Seattle There are a bunch of teams with real interest. For most of those teams, this is the finish line, not the starting line. … There is a real desire to go get him. The question is what he wants to do. https://post.futurimedia.com/chumam/playlist/126/listen-34798.html?cb=1647265859.877948 -7:45 Ed Werder: It seems like the teams that are most active are the New Orleans Saints, Cleveland Browns and Carolina Panthers.
