It's awesome to see every night having the opposing center, who normally averages 5 points and 3 rebounds a game, get their career highs on us.
It's a personnel issue (Wood) but CLEARLY this is a coaching issue aswell. Regardless of who's in there, opponent bigs go off. Wood,Sengun,Fernando and Garuba. Doesn't really matter who's in there, they still get murdered. It was the same with Theis too and he is supposedly a good defender.
PG needs to be addressed just as badly Rockets have Sengun if he could just stop fouling anything breathing and get more PT, and we could find a big man in this draft…but at PG, it looks very rough
All the guys you mentioned above are PFs. They are not centers. They are undersized and get muscled under on a post or a box-out. It's ****ing drives me nuts seeing them getting pummeled in the paint.
Will Chet be strong enough to hold of Giannis, Jonas V, etc.? He'll need to put on some weight to help protect the basket. Hell, it sucks that Detroit and Orlando have bodies that can clog the paint. How about just give me one of those limp b*stard Mavericks centers? Just need someone who is 6'10 and above and weighs over 250 and clogs the damn paint.
You act like that's a list of HOFers. Wood is a disappointment on defense. Sengun... still learning, but he's no all-world defender. Fernando and Garuba? Wth. lol.
You can call them whatever you want but PF's also go off against us. It's not just natural centers. Basically anyone who plays around the rim.
Wood is too slow to play guard or forward and too weak to play center. Please get rid of him. Porter - Green - Tate - Smith/Holmgren/Banchero - Sengun Nix - Christopher - Martin - Garuba - Fernando/FA/Nets pick That should be the 10 man rotation next year.
Will have to settle for Bones Holmgren Won’t have a Jarrett Allen next to him. Ain’t much here… LaMarcus Aldridge (37) Deandre Ayton (24) (RFA) Mohamed Bamba (24) (RFA) Bismack Biyombo (30) Chris Boucher (29) Tony Bradley (24) (Player Option) Thomas Bryant (25) Nicolas Claxton (23) (RFA) DeMarcus Cousins (32) Ed Davis (33) Dewayne Dedmon (33) Gorgui Dieng (32) Andre Drummond (29) Derrick Favors (31) (Player Option) Bruno Fernando (24) (RFA) Luka Garza (24) (Team Option) Montrezl Harrell (28) Isaiah Hartenstein (24) Udonis Haslem (42) Dwight Howard (37) Serge Ibaka (33) Damian Jones (27) DeAndre Jordan (34) Frank Kaminsky (29) Luke Kornet (27) Kevon Looney (26) Robin Lopez (34) JaVale McGee (34) Mike Muscala (31) (Team Option) Jusuf Nurkic (28) Bobby Portis (27) (Player Option) Naz Reid (23) (Team Option) Mitchell Robinson (24) Jalen Smith (22) Tristan Thompson (31) Hassan Whiteside (33) Ivica Zubac (25) (Team Option)
No I'm not. I'm saying it doesn't matter who's in there right now. Theis is a good defender - how did that work? I'm not saying we have Bill Russell in here and it's not working but it's not like we're playing against Shaq every night. Players of similar skill as the guys mentioned above go off on us every night. If it's Jokic or Embiid, I don't mind it. It's a combination of both, is what I'm trying to say.
If nix is serviceable. I think center or another big defensive man needs to b addressed especially if we want to get rid of wood. I'm fine with kpj and green do some ball handling, but we really need a real pg if nix isn't it
Center is certainly part of the issue. Finger crossed on some of the nice big men at the next draft. Even guys like Fernando, who is a big body. He's at the bottom of the hierarchy, he only gets minutes when Sengun fouls out, or Wood misses a game. This is on coaching. If Stone spends a high draft pick on a center, it forces Silas' hand to play that person. In today's NBA, team defense matter as much as individual defense. This means, as much of a luxury it is to have a good center who covers up mistakes, the guards and the wings have to own up on their defense also.
I’ll be honest, I have no faith in Nix we’ll probably eventually find out he’s just a mediocre low tier player who wouldn’t get any PT on a decent team too many examples of us having some unheralded young player that looks ok for a while and then plummets back down like Mason Jones, Gary, Brooks, etc if Nix ends up being legit, I’ll be surprised big man is my priority in this draft mainly because bigs are the top prospects
