Silas has Stone's approval. The players have all improved quite a bit since Day 1. Players love him, FO loves him. The team is on track for good draft lottery odds. I really don't see why people would have any problems with how things are going unless they are desperate to fight for the 10th seed? That seems like a poor choice when the opportunity to try to get a top-5 talent is RIGHT THERE. It's only 15 more games of pain. The plan is clearly to work on new skills this summer and try to bring improvement next season. Assuming the goal is to win then, there's no reason not to give him a chance to win, as well. Don't judge a fish on its ability to climb trees Don't judge Silas by record when the goal is not to win games.
lol nobodys judging silas on the record its all those other things... and of course players are improving they would have done so even without having any coach at all.... perhaps even a lot more without having silas constantly holding them back...
Silas is a passive b****. The type of person who should never be placed in any management, supervisor, leadership etc position ever. He is the abject product of nepotism.
We can say "fire Silas" all we want, but it really depends how you look at it. Was he forced to play Daniel Theis? Yes. Does his roster have any rim protection? No Do you see development in Jalen Green offensively? Yes. Do you see development in Jalen Green defensively? Yes. Is this Roster built to win now? No, it's built to tank. As of now, Silas is the right man for the current job. After our top 5 selection this year, I think Stone will hold Silas accountable for improvement and then we can see if he is really can evolve with the team. There needs to be a huge roster gut currently. KPJ and Jalen do not mesh, Christian Wood is not conductive to winning basketball, Jaesan Tate is not a good enough shooter at the 4 position to warrant being undersized. Major Roster Gutting needed then hope you get the right guy in the draft whether that be Chet, Jabari, or Ivey. Exciting times to be a Rockets fan.
And perhaps not. Perhaps another coach would have led a team of 5 rookie starters to the Championship. Gtfoh with parallel universe scenarios. Look at the actual players right now and tell me you don't like what you see out of pretty much every guy.
When you talk about holding guys back you really mean Sengun, who's foul prone & HORRIBLE at defending. You're really mad because you overrated Sengun and you're projecting your anger at Silas
Green is improving. If Silas is responsible, that's great. Otherwise, my thoughts on Silas remain unchanged since the hire: willing to see what happens when we have talent, but I still haven't seen anything in his head coaching from prior interim stint to his Rockets tenure that makes me think he is above average. We're intentionally tanking anyway (I hope) so regardless it makes sense to stay the course for now.
wonder if both he and management would be agreeable to him staying on as a developmental coach when we finally bring in a real head coach
John Lucas seems to have more to do with development of the guards.......in the videos. KPJ also threw an object because he was so mad at Lucas, tells you Lucas was all in.
Silas has to be the biggest push over in the league. Theres a reason KPJ and Wood get to do basically whatever they want w zero consequences
I'm not sure what kind of message he is sending to Green right now when he was the only that played hard and the only one that played well in the starting lineup, but he benches him all the same along with Wood and KPJ who were disasters this game. It genuinely feels like when he punishes players for playing poorly, he punishes them as a group, which is not what you want to do with so many young players on this team. Is he afraid he would offend the older players on this team?
I’m far from a hater but sometimes Silas goes full r*tard, man. Treating rookies like 35 year old veterans is stupid, no other way to say it.
I can only assume he just thinks he should follow the unwritten rule of pulling your starters during a blowout, but that obviously makes no sense whatsoever for this team.
I'm not even sure he thinks as far as this. He looks clueless. John Lucas is the "coach" out there that tries to get them going. Silas is just on his seat, busy with trying not to cry.
