I'm an MLK loving, Mother Theresa respecting, Ghandi studying, Reggae, gospel listening, peace-lover. This is the first time in my life anyone has ever called me a war monger LOL.

But history is full of people who have stood up and fought against and risked their lives to confront tyranny, oppression, brutality and genocide. Sometimes there is no other choice.
History is also full of people who sat back and did nothing in the face of evil. Some never spoke up, some were complicit out of fear or coercion and others just simply waited too long or lacked the moral empathy to stand up for what is right.

From what you are showing in the few posts I have seen, your understanding of history is very flawed.

I consider myself pretty conservative also, I think it is a matter of colonial vs non colonial mindset or more than anything reallt, just honesty.

intentions are clear, let’s just be honest without virtue signaling (actually much more predominant on the left just look at this thread). We didn’t do any of those actions out of the goodness of our hearts, millions died and much more are suffering as a result of our actions. Let’s not pretend that we give a crap about them “liberated them” as the poster above references. If they were to come out and say “yea we give much less important to countries with POC” I would shrug and be like ok that’s fair.

the fact that people took my statement as twisted it as you alluded to was pretty sad and more telling than what I said, really revealing the deep seated bias and mindset many people harbor (that they are not actually aware of).

You’re missing @Space Ghost point. What’s going on here is not exclusive to Ukraine, in fact your tax dollars are going to the Saudi’s (our great friends right?) so they can wage a bullshit genocide in Yemen. He’s pointing out the hypocrisy not the morality of the situation. That’s all we’re trying to get people to acknowledge.

you have not made a similar post regarding those other countries since you feel so adamant about “standing up”

again since you’re talking about the brutality…over a MILLION people have died since our invasion of both Iraq and Afghanistan with countless more suffering, we are actively participating in the massacring of the Yemenis despite no quarrel with them outside our allegiance to Saudi oil, so please tell me how this fits in with your prior post. It’s hypotlcrisy.

There are people who truly go against humanity and we like to call them evil. To disagree with someones actions does not automatically make them evil.

You may feel compelled to call Putin evil for his actions. The reality is this is much more complex than most people are making it out to be. If you feel Putin should be responsible for all the civilian deaths, then you should be calling for the countrys leader who executed this drone strike:

    https://www.nytimes.com/2021/09/10/world/asia/us-air-strike-drone-kabul-afghanistan-isis.html

That drone strike was just as evil as any of the other actions being depicted. Its time Americans take some responsibility for the leaders they elect. We have a long history of killing civilians and its certainly not going to change if we get involved in this conflict.

That may be, but if you think America got involved in WWII to stop Hitler from massacring people, you are dead wrong, just like you were about Iraq and Afghanistan - and I bet the vast majority of posters here would agree with what I am saying.

Exactly to that last point. It’s easy for us to create thsi dichotomy with good vs evil (think back to our treatment of the French and cringy freedom fries movement) , because it’s easier for us to justify our actions as a result. It’s usually more complex.

that strike , the chaotic pullout, betrayal of translators and other workers who risked their lives to work with us and are probably underground adding nutrients to the trees, poppy plants is evil.

Your point is noted. Admittedly, I do not currently know enough about what is going on in Yemen and will actively try to educate myself more on what is happening there. A lot of that blame is on the media for not reporting widely on the current events there. Some of it has to do with Yemen being a very isolated country at the end of the Arabian peninsula with that war having no chance of spilling over into highly populated international cities. I know some Ethiopians, Eritreans, Saudis and Somalis. I have never met anyone from Yemen. I wish I did.

Ok you can't compare a mistake as tragic as it was to the intentional targeting of a maternity ward. There is a difference.

The US has knowingly done evil things - such as assisting the Contras. Those guys were evil incarnate. But this isn't the right example.

Perhaps add Buddhist something in there too? I don't know about all those people's stance, but Mother Theresa? She would not have an ounce of hatred in her, even against war criminals. Peace-lover like her wouldn't want war at any cost. They believe any fighting is violent and causes more problems and one should be non-violence even in the face of aggression.

If Biden wanted to bring this country together, he would ask President Trump to serve as an ambassador to help broker peace with Putin. Trump is the only person in the United States capable of doing this.

Most women would prefer peace. It's the sick men rulers who commit the worst atrocities upon human lives in their quest for power at all cost. Ruthless barbaric mentality.
