We've waited this long. Forget about a buyout. That contract becomes a valuable facilitating piece.

No one is going to trade for John Wall and that 45m contract, they will just wait......and get him the year after next for much less.

It's not about the team getting Wall. It's about us attaching assets for a young star.

Someone looking offload a long term max salary could trade for him as an expiring contract along with draft picks. That’s why a buyout was always such a ludicrous proposition.

Wall will still be very hard to trade, even as an expiring.

there’s a reason why he could only be traded for Russ the 1st time, and getting traded for Russ again was the only trade being talked about

not many teams have 45 mil worth of role players to spare, especially not for a guy who hasn’t played in a year and did not look too good the last time we saw him

at this point, it’s likely Wall could fall off a cliff Kemba style

ummmmm... i presume thats the gameplan....

i mean we obviously werent putting any effort into trying create any interest or appeal in the player himself...

and if no beneficial use for his contract presents itself... then we just let it expire and take the cap room...

iirc Wall had no interest in leaving any money on the table...

so... yeh... thats pretty much where we're at...

He's technically not an expiring contract until next year.

We can’t even trade EG when his value is at an all time high.

no chance wall gets traded unless it’s for Russ.

Why would we want a long term high dollar contract that someone is willing to give up just to get them off their books?

Id rather just let Wall expire or buy his final year out.

James Harden became available out of nowhere… twice. Anybody can get angry with their team at any time for any reason. It might not be likely, but it’s good to have that bullet I. The chamber.

He becomes expiring the second the season is over, and he's not tradeable until this season is over. Therefore, he can only be traded as an expiring contract.

So in response to your thread title... good news?

that was 10 years ago, and he wasn’t seen as a bonafide star back then…he wasn’t a young star when we or BK had him on the trade block

    one can dream
