That's why I don't like Cruz or will shake his hand...But I'll still vote for him. Big difference on why I love (no homo) Desantis, sheeple.
Why on earth would you vote for that lying pig? He was a big part of the propaganda spreading of Trump about the election. The dude is a flat out liar.
Cruz is embarrassing. But so are many of the politicians on the left. So it goes back to whether you believe in big government or freedom.
You are better than this SJC. You are one of the smartest posters of all time here but you know this statement is intellectually dishonest. Incredibly. Political choices are not binary like this, the extreme fringe on each side of the spectrum notwithstanding. Furthermore, voting left doesn't mean you are anti freedom and voting right doesn't mean you are pro small government. The middle voters who umltimately are deciding elections have a much broader and diverse way of evaluating politicians than you give them credit for.
Cruz was all in on the scam, con, and propaganda to overturn the election. All those taxpayer dollars wasted for months of BS. He echoed Trump's lies for 4 years. It goes far beyond embarrassing. He is a liar, a traitor, and a coward. As for big government or freedom, that's not an accurate choice. the GOP isn't the same party since Trump. It's now a party regulating anything that doesn't fit their agenda. They are governing and ruling like authoritarians, telling businesses what they can and can't do. You have GOP-controlled legislatures like Georgia, Texas and other states drafting bills to make it harder to vote, and drafting bills to curtail the authority of local election officials and secretaries of state. It's getting worse and worse. If you ask me, They restrict or make things more difficult for people. I don't call that freedom. For me, it goes far beyond that. I can't vote for a pathological liar. I can't vote for a party that echoed the lies of a sociopath for 4 long years.
Except what do you consider "freedom"? Is freedom having government bureaucrats to decide what teachers can talk about in their classrooms? To use the force of state child protective services to investigate parents who help their children transition? Is it freedom to say that private businesses cannot make their own decisions about what they consider to be in the best health interests of their customers and employees? Is it freedom for state government to remove local and nonpartisan control of elections to put it into the hands of the state legislatures and partisan officials? Is it freedom to argue for body autonomy when it comes to vaccines and then not just criminalize the private decisions of women but to empower private citizens to go after anyone who helps those women even when not in their own state?
When’s the last time government shrunk under republican leadership? Even at a state level? New Mexico under Gary Johnson maybe? I guess he had an R next to his name back then.
I looked at her Facebook page. Mostly posts about missing dogs, and random Republican stuff. If she does support Qanon or Proud Boys, that would be stupid.
the Republican Party supports q anon, proud boys, holocaust deniers, white supremacists. They are actual bricks in the platform and constituency. Not aberrations or fringe. Completely Mainstream and widespread. And the very leaders you support draw from that base, delight in the support and sure as hell won’t condemn them. It’s part of what you guys get to own as continuing to support the party.
What an absolute bast*rd. DeSantis is a soulless extremist willing to say or do anything to promote his political career. How anyone here with a functioning intelligence can support this guy will remain a mystery to me.
If I were someone wanting the GOP to win national elections I'd be worried about Desantis. While this stuff is popular with the base how is this going to play out in national elections? I'm pretty sure the Dem running against him will bring up his stance on CRT and LGBTQ+ issues and it might not be something that plays well with the moderate voter which the GOP desperately needs to win elections...the same voter that was completely turned off by 4 years of Trump might not be so eager to put in another president that seems so focused on dividing people and not helping people. I mean we'll see. I thought DeSantis had a good shot at winning in 2024 because on the surface he seemed moderate...but he's really been trying his best to move away from that. Not sure that's a wise long term move, he should be moving away from Trumpism, not towards it...but I guess they can't help themselves.
DeSantis obviously believes in big government. He imposes government restrictions over parenting, businesses, local schools, etc.
Interestingly enough, her first post on FB is January 8, 2021. So nothing about the shenanigans from January 6 or the election. Seems that perhaps she deleted an old FB account and created a new one.
DeSantis and the Republican Party majority in the Florida legislature is slathering big government all over Floridians with a shovel. Much like Abbott is doing in Texas, except DeSantis is better with the optics. Again and again both have taken away the ability of cities, counties, and school boards to do what they were elected to do by the citizens living there. For decades the Republican Party in both states ran on the virtues of "local control," and for many years now they have worked tirelessly to take local control away. It's what DeSantis is doing now with his rubber stamp GOP legislative majority. Taking away the ability of mayors, county commissioners, and school boards to carry out the wishes of the citizens who elected them.
