Not sure that's accurate Sweetie Lou This piece says Capela standing reach was or is 9'2.5" (and Capela one in taller) https://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Clint-Capela-6359/ Height Capela 6'11" Bruno 6'10" Wingspan Capela 7' 4.5" Bruno 7' 4" Standing Reach Capela 9' 2.5" Bruno 9' 1"
Unfortunately if Wood is back against the Hornets doubt Silas even plays him. Can't wait til Wood and Silas are gone.
I was most impressed with the fact that he seems to know his role. He should take 3' hook shots and dunks, protect the rim and rebound. That's all of the things we've been missing in one person. If we could put his heart into Wood we would have an all-star. He reminds me a lot of Montrez Harrell with his energy, my only question is why didn't coach put him in the game sooner when Powell was going off for a career night? We will definitely need Fernando or at least more players like him when we are ready to be a real team again and compete. He reminds me of someone Kelvin Sampson would have recruited for the Cougars.
His full name is Bruno Afonso David Fernandes, but goes by a nickname (Fernando). He is from Portuguese speaking Angola. He is a power dunker. Conclusion: slender Nene
One game but did everything you could ask for in his skillset/role, a perfect shooting night. A true old-school big, fun to watch.
Rebound. Catch lobs / passes within a foot of the rim. Play solid defense. That's it. That's the recipe for success. You don't have to be a Jokic or Embiid or Towns. Just be a rim-running high energy hustle guy that can play defense.
When we first got him, I took a quick look at some highlights of the guy and thought he'd be a really good lob target and rebounder, and someone posted that he had "bad hands." I didn't see any evidence of that last night. Can he play like this consistently? Only way to find out is to give him some minutes, based on matchups. Certainly gives us a different look, and man, that's an understatement. Likely to collect fouls, which could be a problem, but learn by doing, in my opinion. One thing he won't do is run away from bigs down low and expect a Rocket 6'6" and under to guard them.
Not a huge fan of Stone, but give him credit on this guy. Nobody would have blinked if he waived him after the trade. Schroder and Bruno for Theis is a steal if we keep Schroder. If given a real opportunity the fans of Houston will love this guy. He is not a fluke, as I watched him play at Maryland. Legit big who gets hustle and energy points each game he plays.
There's a reason he was given away so I'm not expecting anything, however from what little I've seen there's no reason he shouldn't have been getting some minutes on this team.
