Not guilty is not what happened. Your savior is a sexual assailant. Only an idiot or a poor moral person would want that.
1. "Intelligent fans" know Watson has wanted out for over a year, watched him burn every bridge he could with the franchise and saw the organization agree to let him sit out an entire season in his prime. They realize that nothing has changed in that time, and it makes zero sense for either side to come back to the table to discuss him ever coming back to this team. 2. "Intelligent fans" also know that him not being guilty doesn't equate to him not being a piece of **** who sexually harassed and/or assaulted a ton of women. Watson was almost certainly never going to be found guilty in a case where there was zero physical evidence. We would prefer not to have a guy like that as the face of the franchise.
I can't wait for these DWOF people to die off or follow him to wherever the hell he goes. I just want our Texans to move on from this garbage. Nick has to pillage as much as he can trading this guy. I want him to build a team that can compete rather than being a laughingstock each time we hit the field.
1. We should be holding the Texans accountable for creating a situation where the franchise QB wants out right after signing a long-term deal. It was always understandable why Watson wanted out due to poor ownership decisions. He wasn't the only star that wanted out (e.g. JJ Watt). However, now that we have Lovie Smith as coach, Texans could at least try to use that as a lure to change Watson's mind. 2. You're willing to condemn someone over allegations even when there is "zero physical evidence." Doesn't seem fair to me.
This is not the first time I've seen this take, and it doesn't get any less asinine every time I see it. So you're Nick Caserio and you join a franchise that's already the laughing stock of the league with your first GM job. And in your first big move as the head of the organization, you take your superstar player, one of the best athletes in the game in his prime on a long-term contract, and you manufacture sexual assault allegations against him to make the organization even less likable and kill his value in the process. This strategy makes absolutely zero sense. And anyone with half a brain cell who took more than 30 seconds to think about it would come to that realization. The Texans are a horribly run franchise historically, but they're both not stupid enough to tank the value of their best asset, nor are they smart enough to come up with a scenario to publicly assassinate the character of an athlete. Take off the tin foil hat, stop clinging to that Watson jersey in the closet and let it go, man. He's a POS, and he's no longer a part of the Texans organization. Period.
This. He will no longer be part of the Texans. The sooner he is gone, the better. I'm here for the Texans, not this individual. He decided for himself not to be part of what we're doing. Let's just part ways and move on.
Texans had plenty of motive to set up Deshaun. Before the allegations came out the Texans were being roasted in the national sports media on a daily basis. After the allegations, the focus was on Deshaun and quite a few people saying, "maybe the Texans were right." Throughout the investigation, details such as Watson was getting massage tables from the Texans and a woman working closely with the Texans was setting him up with the masseuses have come to light. Also, Buzbee's wife is friends with Anna McNair, Bob McNair's granddaughter. It doesn't prove anything, but it's not outside the realm of possibility that the Texans could've had something to do with these accusations being made. I really think Easterby would do anything to hold onto his position within the Texans organization. He almost got Josh McCown hired as HC for crying out loud.
There's two different issues here: the Texans being a horribly-run franchise and Deshaun Watson being a horrible human being. Both can be true and are true. Me wanting Deshaun gone doesn't really have anything to do with the first point. The Texans are 100% the reason why Watson wanted to leave, but you seem to think that if Watson had a change of heart, the Texans would be doing the classic Texans thing by turning him down. That's false. The best thing this franchise can do is trade him for a small fortune, tank for a few seasons to accumulate assets and draft well. Because if Watson and the Texans suddenly agreed to reconcile, they'd still be terrible, they'd have far fewer assets for the future, they'd be an even bigger laughing stock of the league and they'd be one of the most morally reprehensible franchises in sports for letting him come back after what he did to those women and to his own reputation in this community. Dude needs to go, and the franchise will be far better off in the long-term for it. Yes. Because it is far more more likely that a super-powerful millionaire used his authority and power to sexually assault dozens of masseuses than it is 22 masseuses to accuse someone with his power of sexual assault and bring that level of public scrutiny and fan vitriol into their lives. Even in cases where it's he said vs. she said, history and statistics have shown that the victim is rarely ever lying. In this case, it's 22 "she saids." And even if some of the instances are overstated, there's way, way, way too much smoke here to not be fire. Also, the burden of proof is a criminal case is significantly harder than it is in a civil case. Watson will 100% end up paying for this, whether the civil cases get settled or not. But he was never going to serve any actual jail time unless someone had visual or physical proof.
It's also entirely possible that Watson was the victim of extortion. Hardin said that the FBI investigation was actually an investigation into some of the accusers to determine whether they were trying to extort money from Watson. We should take sexual assault allegations seriously but also check out the story. If you read the filed lawsuits with a critical eye you would notice many things that don't make sense. Some of the accusers saw him multiple times even after they claim he was inappropriate with them the first time. Also, they let him cross lines that masseuses should've immediately put a stop to (e.g. allowing him to not be draped on the massage table, etc.). Buzbee is an ambulance chaser. When their first attempt to get him to settle didn't pan out, he put out a call for more women to join the lawsuit. He didn't want this to go to trial. He hoped that he would've pressured Watson into a settlement by now.
Did you just say Buzbee is an ambulance chaser? You do realize the dude is worth 750 million and has taken down some huge corporations. Don’t be an idiot.
Um, no. Watson created this situation. The Texans got wind of this stuff and tried to do something about it. The GM BS was a smoke screen for Watson. He knew the lawsuits were coming, but he thought he could run from them. Deshaun Watson is not the person we thought he was. Does it suck he won't be playing for the Texans? Yes. It is what it is. Texans made mistakes, but moving on from Watson, it is not one of them.
You know how STUPID that sounds? How does it benefit the Texans? You just signed him to a big extension, so u have a bunch of money tied up. And if you wanted to trade him, you tanked his value. There was no benefit for the Texans. Easterby was going to be there no matter what Watson did.
Easterby, Bill Obrien, Watson, Cal, Lawsuits, Buzbee, Rusty, David Culley, attempting to Hire High school football coaches….etc This place has been a complete and utter circus FOR YEARS NOW. The Texans need to button up badly & get this organization on solid ground.
I wish we could keep him everyone likes a rehab story. And he is far and away the best QB we could have. DD
