I am looking forward to seeing what Jonathan Villars price ends up being. If Houston just wants some moderate SS/CF insurance Villar makes a lot of sense if he’s cheap. And even if both Pena and Meyers pan out Villar makes a solid bench piece due to his versatility and speed.
I believe one series (likely NYY), will be added to the end of the season with the other series smushed in the schedule somewhere else, likely with double headers on a prior rest day is my guess.
Correa- 13/350 Bryant- 8/180 Freeman- 3/100 Story- no offer Conforto meh- sounds good McHugh- 3/15 Schwarber/Castellos/Jansen- pass.
Bryant is still not a CF. I don't understand why he keeps getting brought up as an option. Sign Correa. Bring back McHugh. Call it a day.
As much as the Astros talk about revisiting one final time, we have had years of failed negotiations. If anyone knows the separation between what Carlos wants and what the FO thinks is wise, it’s our FO. I think this is posturing and doing their due diligence.
Because he can play rf, lf, 3b, 1b. He is insurance for Brantley, Gurriel, McCormick(with Tucker in center), and Pena. We would be sacrificing pretty good defense for more offense.
It’s not the popular opinion, but I think the right RP may be the bigger difference between winning our division and making a strong playoff run.
This has probably been brought up a hundred times but... Would y'all be okay with letting Carlos walk and bringing in Bryant and Story?
I'm not anti-Bryant at the right price, if we think Tucker can play full-time CF. Bryant is a good corner bat. Brantley-Tucker-Bryant is a pretty weak defensive OF compared to what we've been accustomed to, though. Like you said, trade of defense for offense.
My ideal scenario is to just bring CC back, but second to that would be a 1yr prove-it deal for Story to let his value reset…could plug him in CF (?) and SS and ride with that, would be v happy with that outcome. I’m less thrilled with a long term commitment to Story right now bc I don’t want his contract to interfere with signing Ted or Air long-term
In the 10000 innings that Story has played in the minors and majors, he has played as many innings in CF as I have.
