He said he'd do it all exactly same 10 out of 10 times, 100%. The Fertittas are crap but Stone gets some blame too.
All GM's would exceed the salary cap and luxury tax if they were allowed. Morey would have "if allowed" in Houston. Brooklyn, Clippers, Warriors, Lakers and 76ers are reported to be ok with it for the past two seasons. Not a surprise to me Morey ended up with one of those teams. Stone wishes he could. Warriors would still have Durant if money wasn't a true issue.....but even they had limits. Ask their GM if going to $200 Million in team salary was an issue or option? Yes, even GM's have to ask for permission
It's just not a good look because if Tilman dislikes Morey, he would want to best him in a deal. Stone believes Morey can't dupe him in a deal. However, Tilman refuses to deal with Morey because deep down he DOES believe Morey can outsmart Stone. So imagine how Stone feels. Anyway, I'd rather own Brooklyn's future than Sixers' future. Morey will not screw up and Embiid is way younger than Durant, the two fundamental pieces that Harden is being added to. We got the best deal out there.
Harden was just quoted as saying the Sixers were his first choice, not the Nets. Which contradicts what Stone said.
Yes, Stone's insecurity about living up to Morey is patently obvious in every interview he does. Tilman didn't want to deal with Morey either, whether it was his antagonism towards Morey or his fear that Stone would get his canines handed to him. But that just means their feelings and/or myopia forced them to bypass the best deal for the future of the organization. But it doesn't matter because Morey outmaneuvered both to get what he wanted in the end anyway.
DeAndre is the type of player I’d like to sign after trading Wood this summer. Let Sengun get the bulk of the minutes and have DJ get about 18 minutes a game (basically a role reversal for Sengun). You get a veteran player to practice with who can still be productive in limited minutes, rather than someone who is slowing development. And you could always trade him at the deadline if a contender thinks he can help them.
DJ didn't come here when CF's thought he would play for vet min, when the rockets had Capela. He sure isn't coming here when the rockets are the worst team in the league
Miami has hopes of adding a further frontcourt presence alongside Adebayo, sources said, and has shown known interest in Christian Wood and PJ Washington. https://bleacherreport.com/articles...tern-conferences-best-team-swipe-another-star
My immediate kneejerk reaction: go to https://basketball.realgm.com/nba/draft/future_drafts/detailed and see what Miami has left to offer and, yup, it's still nothing.
