Castro is on executive subcommittee. Not sure what to take away from the fact that we were one of four teams to vote no, but I don’t care as long as baseball is back

New: A player can be optioned to the minor leagues 5 times in 1 season (was unlimited), then he has to clear waivers.

Any final word on 12 team playoff format?

Hopefully they don't get too cute and just do the standard: top 2 teams go straight to division series. 3 wild card teams and 1 division winner play best of 3 WC round with all games at the higher seed.

This actually has a chance of being a more fair/better system than the current one they have... and hopefully stipulations in place that prevent the best 2 teams in the league, record wise, from facing off in the division series.

Is it very often that a player gets optioned more than 5 times in a season?

Doubt it, but I don't really know. I do know that the Dodgers and I'm sure some others were starting to abuse the system, especially with pitchers...think I read that 1 LAD was optioned 12 times last year.

Yea, I don't see any Astros being optioned that many times last year. Taylor Jones was optioned 4 times. Paredes and Bielak were optioned 3 times. Scrubb was optioned 3 times but then he was outrighted and cleared waivers.

    No re-seeding in the LDS: 1 vs 4or5, 2 vs 3or6

Also, no more Game 163s, tiebreaker formula will be used

Certain teams option players like crazy. The rays are probably the prime example.
