"We urge the US side once again to fully explain the biological military activities at home and abroad," Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Liqian told a press briefing on Tuesday. * to me this maybe a preparation step toward using biological weapons against civilians and blaming others
What about the over 9,000 leases that were given out and are currently not being used at all? Why not start there? And what about the Keystone Pipeline? How many times do people have to be told that what that pipeline was going to be sending is still being sent via rail. Nothing slowed that down and it has no bearing on domestic production.
It's sad in part b/c it's so asymmetric. I hate Putin much much worse than I could ever dislike a group of my fellow Americans. I guess I don't watch or click enough cable news content or something. FOX NEWS and CNN will just squeeze every dime they can out of angertainment until all hell breaks loose I guess. EDIT: This is what amazes me about Putin's huge misstep in Ukraine. All he had to do was sit back and watch us continue to squabble until we fall to anarchy. But presenting himself more clearly as an external bad guy, he's going to delay the unraveling forces at work in the so-called west.
There are plenty of unused viable leases.... that are sitting there and can be drilled at any time, nothing is stopping them at all. The reason they are not active is based on what is viewed as long term/supply and demand.... nothing "opens up" over night and there are costs involved as well.
Of course it is. China and Russia have been in lockstep with each other over this for some time. All you have to do is look at Chinese "media".
I addressed that in an earlier post. The 9,000 unused leases is a misrepresentation by Psaki and Biden. Those leases are subject to dry holes, litigation, etc...but they spun it like it is just right there to turn on the spigot. And you bought it.
I'd like to read some investor reports where Exxon and others say that they would like to create new drilling programs but haven't done so because of legislation.
There are thousands of leases that are viable to be set up and drilled. Yeah.... no they didn't make it sound like spigot can just be turned on.... there are costs and time associated with it, and that is because of the free market and has nothing to do with Biden or Trump or anyone else.
Not really a criticism. I was just commenting on public attitudes I saw at that time where we psyched ourselves up for war. The primary difference, I think, is that the Bush Admin wanted to fight and was orchestrating the dog and pony show to justify it, whereas I think Biden would rather not fight but might need that public appetite if we get to it. Bush did a good job of keeping the mission tightly defined and achievable. It'd have been better if he could have prevented the invasion in the first place with better diplomacy. Likewise with Ukraine.
All 9,000 of them? Of course it's not an instantaneous thing. Even if they were to open up more leases on federal land, that's possible production for way down the road. So we're still where we are and would have been regardless. But since you need a boogeyman, blame President Biden. And none of this makes anything about the Keystone pipeline relevant anyway as that would've done nothing.
Futures mean something and the loosening up and commencement of production causes prices to fall. No boogeyman needed, there is a reason there is a direct correlation between Biden's election and gas prices skyrocketing, long before Russia invaded Ukraine. This is what a democrat president gets you.
There isn't always a diplomatic solution. Saddam wanted to secure what he saw as rightful Iraqi territory in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. After he seized Kuwait, Operation Desert Shield was put into place to defend Saudi. He was offered an opportunity to withdraw from Kuwait with essentially nothing lost and no shots fired and he refused. After being whipped out of Kuwait the US still essentially honored that original offer and signed an armistice that left him in power with all of his original land. That same scenario for Putin has been described as cowardice here. Of course Bush rallied Americans to the war effort, that is required any time there is military action. I just don't think that's a really good comparison to people foolishly lusting for a war with a nuclear power.
The major reason is demand spiking as global economies (including the US) were opening up following COVID. It was not only foreseeable, IT WAS PREDICTED.
Coupling rising demand with chilling domestic production under a new administration did that, not just rising demand.
Domestic production was chilling before COVID when the Saudis decided to kill the fracking business. Everyone forgets that because of COVID
