I would go Jabari Smith or Chet after studying them under the microscope.... leaning towards Jabari. Patrick Baldwin has fallen enough we could probably get him at #14. Tankathon has him going consistently to Bulls at #22. (Baldwin) Off year but I'm guessing nagging injuries. Footwork drills. Can't be as slow as Kyle Anderson. Plan for C Wood exit strategy with Jabari (or Chet) and Patrick Baldwin mentorship as rooks
@peleincubus Here is a little tidbit on Baldwin number by Synergy Sports that show he was actually good at many categories. https://www.noceilingsnba.com/p/patrick-baldwin-jr-and-bennedict It was back in December but he was 88th percentile in total defense 96th percentile in shooting off the dribble 68th percentile in transitions 88th percentile in spot up shooting 92nd percentile in Pick-n-Rolls Could still be a diamond in the rough
Thank you VC I have Jabari ranked 1st Chet 2nd Banchero 3rd (of course all subject to change) I believe Silas wants a big man that can perform well as PnR (roll man) Banchero rated as average at 42 percentile offensively and 14 percentile as PnR defender (Poor). Silas wants to recreate what he had in Dallas. But I would be happy to have any of these top 3 players
Yeah I've started to lean Jabari myself. Paolo with all his flaws is still my boy at 2 and then Chet. Im 100% A-OK with any of these guys because they all offer something unique to the puzzle that can be built around and each of their games will fit in fine with Jalen. Paolo tends to initiate the PNR and play the guard role so his roll game is not as strong as it should be that is accurate. I think in the NBA he will have to get accustomed to being the roll man in those situations and defensively he's just an aloof player. He doesnt seem very plugged in there and its definitely a turn off, but his complete offensive package is NBA ready.
Yes, a lot of numbers to digest here. Thanks for the charts. Offense (PnR) Jabari Ball Handler...88 percentile (excellent) Roll Man ----------- Chet Ball Handler...47 percentile (average) Roll Man ------------- Banchero Ball Handler...53 percentile (Good) Roll Man........42 percentile (average) Defense (PnR) Jabari Ball Handler.....96 percentile (excellent) Roll Man --------------- (guess they switch everything) Chet Ball Handler...53 percentile (Good) Roll Man........94 percentile (excellent) Banchero Ball Handler....95 percentile (excellent) Roll Man.........14 percentile (poor) So yes I need to look at all categories.....I just mainly want someone to help defend PnR if Sengun is getting torched.....who can also participate in PnR as well. It was a main staple of the Silas offense while in Dallas. From the charts you provided I see Auburn played mostly man-to-man with Jabari and he was 95 percentile (excellent).
I was not expecting the Nets to implode as soon as they are doing. For this year, i did not anticipate anything higher than a pick in the range of 32-27. Now we are looking at a pick that could even be a lottery pick as soon as this year.
Yeah you can spend a good amount of time going through them. For me the stats reflect that Banchero is not as bad as his reputation on defense, but not as good as people like myself like to make him on offense. So it is interesting. Chets offensive numbers are pretty good too while on defense they dont pop like you would expect. Jabari just seems to be the most rounded player. The correlative film study would be the next move if trying to understand their role on each team. I've admittedly only been focused on Duke for selfish reasons. Still plenty of time to nerd out on the stats and verify with the eye test. The tourney and how each guy performs vs good competition will be another layer.
Jabari is not a better ball handler than Holmgren and definitely not Banchero makes me want to ignore everything else this guy says. His ball handling is his major weakness.
I think Jabari can add some dribble penetration moves to his game. He is a more fluid athlete than Holmgren IMO and Im not certain that Chet's handle will be consistently good enough with a lesser overall athletic package to make him a threat to take wing defenders off the dribble in the NBA. Surely he can add that to his arsenal with developmental time while his defensive impact carries him. For what its worth Jabari was the only freshman to make SI's All America 1st team. Paolo and Chet make the 2nd team. Paolo is definitely the best playmaker and creator out of the 3.
If you have not developed a high level handle at this point it's more than likely you will not, he has been the same guy since the 8th grade highly reliant on his jump shot. I am not saying smith can't be a great player I am just saying he does not have a better handle than either Banchero or Holmgren, so I don't know what that chart or author is looking at. I think the top 3 all have question marks and none are strong in everything, both Banchero and Holmgren are more all around skilled than Smith. Don't really care about who made a random All American team, but i don't see how Smith would make a team over those 2.
Or buy one as they did with KJ Martin if they wished to. However, with all the draft picks and young kids we have on this team currently, I doubt we'll do it. There is only so much roster space.
I don't really care about my center or pf having or not having Uncle Drew's handle. Last thing I want is them is Eurosteppin' from the 3 point line to get a severe ankle sprain.
