Yet another case (not just in sports) of the national narrative taking way too long to catch up to what reasonable people have been saying for a long ass time.

I think Russ is going to go out the Allen Iverson route. The guy was never happy taking a step back, he thought he still had it and had to retire early because of it. I'm pretty sure Russ will be going the same route.

The issue is that Westbrook has not been coached in years
He does what he wants. . .when he wants. . . how he wants.
Even at his best . .. . he was over coming shitty decisions and play

For a point guard . . .. he does not really coordinate the offense
In football it is the wild cat offense. . . .when it works its not bad
    but
One person being the total offense . . . limits everything

It's incredible to see how different Harden and Westbrook's career progressed since Westbrook's MVP season.

Westbrook essentially had the triple double narrative, the Durant departure narrative, and a complete anomaly of a shooting season (career high in both 3 point shot attempts and percentage) to win the MVP, but Harden was still neck and neck with him in performance. Westbrook has dropped off every season after that, but Harden more or less kept up the same level of play, and that was half a decade ago. Funny enough, Westbrook had a small career revival since his MVP season, and that was playing next to Harden.

take away Durant and Harden and Westbrook has never made it past the 1st round of the playoffs in his life.

As for Westbrook, who has one season left on his deal worth $47 million, it’s hard to imagine him returning next season. Yet while there are strong signs that his exit is a foregone conclusion, his contract remains massive and it always takes two to tango. The Lakers could choose to waive and stretch Westbrook’s deal as well (for salary cap purposes, his remaining money would be applied to the next three seasons).

Sources say the coaching staff made an unsuccessful push for Westbrook to be traded before the Feb. 10 deadline, when the Lakers passed on Houston’s John Wall, in part, because of the draft considerations that it would have required to make the deal. There were also significant concerns about the fact that Wall hadn’t played all season and, thus, didn’t instill confidence in his ability to help the Lakers turn their season around.

Yet now, it appears, the friction between Westbrook and the coaching staff has only grown worse. Sources confirmed the recent rising of tensions between Westbrook and the coaching staff, which were first reported by Marc Stein. If only for a night, Westbrook’s 20-point, four-assist, four-rebound, plus-13 outing against the Warriors on Saturday offered a reminder that he is capable of being part of the solution. But the performance was an outlier, to say the least.

He has reached the point that he is neither a good option as a starter nor a good bench contributor.

    The franchises ruined themselves.

I refused to view franchises as anything other than grown men in businesses.

Wow, they're going to resurrect Phil Jackson and the triangle? LeBron won't be able to handle the triangle and Jackson won't be able to handle LeBron's posse.
