"I'm an alive person, like any human being, And if a person is not afraid of losing his life, or the lives of his children, there is something unwell about that person."

As president, he added, "I simply do not have the right" to be afraid.

Then accept Ukraine into NATOinstead of using them as a chicken **** proxy to Russia.

I hate proxy wars and entitled 1st world nations taking advantaged of poor nations.

If you think your resources are so important, then send your own countrymen to die so you can have cheap commodities.

They should be temporarily censured for being so recklessly ignorant.

I'd vote for him. A true Patriot! I can't imagine any President we've had in decades who would be willing to get out and fight on the battlefield for his country as President. We need an actual 4 star General or Admiral to run for President. Someone who has sacrificed their life for our freedoms.

Lets reflect. The Vietnam war is the 2nd most embarrassing war in US history. Once the world left Vietnam to settle its differences, it has become one of the fast growing nations in recent years. Are they perfect, no. But it certainly better than the 60s, when millions were killed.

The most embarrassing war is the war on terrorism, specifically the Afghanistan War. We labeled the Taliban as terrorist and invaded their country. 20 years later, we turn the country back over to the 'terrorist'.

If Russia succeeds in controlling and maintaining power in Ukraine and western nations continue sanctions, the Russian people could become weary of being locked out of the rest of the world, leading to them swinging towards a nationalist mindset. This is extremely dangerous. Russia, China and other nations like Saudi Arabia could start inflicting major disruptions in commodities across the world. Like it or not, fossil fuels are here to stay, at least for the rest of our life time. We will continue to have these small scale proxy wars all around the globe.

If Ukraine is able to hold off Putin's advance, he will become more and more erratic. Eventually he will lose power, which leads to the question, who takes his place. China will of course prefer someone who will be of anti-western in nature. Obviously the preferred option is a leader who is more sympathetic towards its own people.

Perhaps its best to put the pressure on the Russian people to remove Putin. My position is to open economic opportunities for individuals all around the world while putting pressure on the oligarchs and self serving leaders of the world.

While this appears to be from 2 days ago, here's a map from someone replying to Roser that looks like it might be ballpark:

It is not semantics. If another country annexed another country it is not called a civil war.

Who supplies most of Europe with wheat? Where does Putin stop after this? Moldova is next. Then what? All of Ukraine is a lot more important than the precursor conflicts Putin has started. Actually the failure to stop Putin before lead to a full invasion of Ukraine. The stakes are way higher.

I think the map on the left with its shaded areas probably represents controlled air space I imagine.
