Eh... Green is averaging 5 more ppg on slightly higher ts% than Lavine's rookie year and that's with 18 games remaining in Green's rookie year where Green most likely will improve those numbers given his trendline and increase that gap between him and rookie Lavine. Green doesn't have Wiggins and Towns on his team but he does have a lot of players that demand touches hence why Green relative to the other top 20 draft picks this season has some of the fewest touches per game. He's ahead of schedule compared to Lavine.
Call me crazy but even just the eye test tells me he looks more fluid even than lavine. Like lavine is insanely explosive but Green is just as explosive but doesn't seem as stiff. Idk maybe stiff isn't the right word but I think you get what I'm saying
I guess what I mean is that it seems that his athleticism manifests itself in more ways than just vertical explosiveness
You are not crazy, however fluidity is more for the eye. Lebron is not very fluid in the halfcourt IMO, he is like a train in transition though. Duncan was very mechanical in his movements, but got his job done. Whatever gets the job done, but it is aesthetically pleasing if one's game is more fluid.
I think there is a more tangible merit than just being aesthetically pleasing at least potentially. Navigating screens, getting around defenders, etc.
Good post and examples. On our own team, KPJ is athletic, but lacks fluidity in movement. Been watching Jaden Ivey a lot lately and he’s a bit stiffer in the hips and lacks the fluidity of Jalen Green, but is stronger, has longer arms, and is very explosive.
What green needs to work on immediately is attacking when he gets a switch. Too often he will get a switch do one hesi dribble then just swing the ball on the perimeter. He needs to be able to either take the big off the dribble to either score or create or create room to shoot.
The most tangible aspect is still linked to winning games and making others better. We actually mean to articulate the same thing. It is running in the right direction. I think if they get Chet or Jabari, the scoring situation will look differently again. A whole new team.
Well sure winning games and making others better is the goal. We agree on that for sure. I think fluidity of movement is just another tool that can be used to achieve that
Just imagine, next year he’ll be wearing #4! note to OP @Mathloom, consider going straight to Chapter 4.
