wUT? You read what I said. I didn't rank Griffin above Banchero and based on what he's shown in the NCAA so far he has not lived up to the hype. I don't see how ranking him within the top 4 is disrespectful or slander. He's one of the best players in this draft, it's obvious, but he needs to show more in March. You really overreact to the slightest inkling of questioning for whomever is 'your guy'.
Like I’ve said. I’ve watched every minute of every game he’s played. He is a decent passer for a big man. But he is not any type of point forward or Lebron lite like you have erroneously said. You are not smart enough to communicate with me. So stop lying about Banchero, stop lying to yourself.
Yep. Plucking out NBA players in areas of the draft where you shouldn’t is certainly cool, but my fascination has recently shifted towards the top. This is a star-driven league. It’s hard to quantify how detrimental it is to miss in the range where both of these prospects will be drafted. When the ping-pong balls fall your way and you get a chance to grab a franchise-altering talent, you have to get it right. We can all be “high” on multiple prospects, but Commissioner Silver only calls one name. Deciding which skills and traits guide you to make that choice – when all of your options are theoretically very good – is the crown jewel. And this time around, I’m siding with Paolo’s foundation and reachable improvements We probably will not even have this choice but if we get it wrong again we are heading toward the Magic, Kings merry-go-round of futility. Great breakdowns of Banchero and Smith I need to keep up on how he does with the other prospects.
Ok if this is true which I doubt you don't know what you are looking at. And you are just starving for attention with your aggressive takes, not going to take the bait again.
Lmao, ok man. Aggressive? You mean like you putting Chet (the better prospect) down at every turn and claiming Paolo to be something he’s not? Then responding to every poster that correctly sees Paolo’s flaws?
I don't have a guy, I just don't understand how you think he is barely keeping himself over Griffen the player who benefits the most from Banchero and is mainly a spot up shooter. I never said you disrespected or slandered anybody, I just don't see why you think griffin is even really close to Banchero considering everything they are asked to do on that team. Who has not lived up to the hype?
These other sites offer a cool perspective on how to use the eye test along with some metrics to formulate conclusions - you may enjoy the deep dives they offer with great content although cleaning the glass requires a sub, but still plenty of free stuff to thumb through like this particular article where they explain that good defense is a team effort (duh right) so while drafting Chet it may seem on the surface level the team defense would improve --- would it really? By how much? Admittedly I have always felt that a great offense beats a great defense so my preferences lean towards those type of players. OBVIOUSLY defense is important not saying it isnt before the flame war begins, but im almost certain Stephen Silas will not be maximizing a defensive minded player. . https://cleaningtheglass.com/how-do-nba-defensive-rotations-work/ https://www.sportsinfosolutions.com/2021/07/05/quantifying-winning-basketball/ At the end of the day though everyone has their guy and thats what is fun with the nature of sport and being a fan. Im not prepared to say the last draft was a bust or that the Rockets missed on a franchise altering player because its still too soon. Im going to try and embrace the ride and give Stone the benefit of the doubt. Roster construct and fit have to be at the forefront moving forward. Whether we like the crop of wings brought in last year or not, if you keep moving those pieces around and second guessing thats when it becomes a revolving door in my opinion. I like Jaden Ivey alot. I may be convinced to slot him in next to Green, but Im not sure that it would be a guaranteed improvement over Kevin Porter Jr and I'd much rather staff the frontcourt this year with any of the top 3 guys. Fill out the squad with understood roles and start allowing them to build chemistry for a year or two. Once the team is close to contending you can start to eliminate the players who dont fit and at that time you have the luxury of introducing some notable tier 1 veterans to the mix to help reach the playoffs and beyond,
I agree with this, but we can use any of these guys to supplement what we have, there is no reason any of these guys cannot be vital rotation guys. I just think at this point we have to take the best player period, preferably that guy fits in with the current guys, but I am not letting any of these guys sway me from taking who I think is the better player. Not going to lie, I don't see Green being anything other than a high level rotational guy or good starter, he will have to play off someone to maximize his abilities. IMO there are no spots that can't be upgraded or strengthened by upper level guys so fit is not even in my vocabulary.
Best player is Chet, then Jabari. Those two are interchangeable. Paolo would be a good consolation prize.
even if the rockets go with a best player available strategy, banchero should be at best no.4 or 5 on their board. why is this so hard to understand for u banchero nuthuggers? since when did defense and efficiency not matter? there are players in this draft that not only "fit" better with this current rockets squad, but even going by best player available logic, should be picked ahead of banchero without question.
Once upon a time I wanted Paolo too. But paired with Mobley. Green, Sengun, Banchero would be a horrible core. All ball dominant and neither are above average defenders, never mind elite upside. And I understand that you draft BPA but we all know that neither Green nor Sengun are going to be jettisoned anytime soon even if Paolo is the pick.
Well, cmoak & jiggy have utterly destroyed an otherwise informative thread. You two should take your beef to the thunder dome thread.
Yes, prefer the 2 way player if rankings are close. Especially if the 2 way player has ELITE defensive potential and is more offensively efficient. This is exactly reason why I preferred Mobley (and even Barnes) over Green. Chet has similar Unicorn potential to Mobley, albeit more as rim protector and scorer.
That's what CF has been no matter where you turn. Just wait until next year when we get to do the Jalen/Mobley thing all over again with someone else.
I'd definitely call Paolo Banchero a playmaker. Even a unique one at 6'10 250. Banchero is just not a primary facillitator in NBA. Yet. He could well be one in time, see Julius Randle and even Zion. But would not call Banchero's playmaking elite. While Jabari at 6'10 is the most elite pure shooter in this draft. And Chet at 7'0 is most elite 2 way player in this draft.
I have Banchero as top 3. Ivey is next tier down. Griffin and Sharpe are another tier below. Keegan Muray and Davis appear to be moving up as well.
Relatively speaking he can make plays. But he won’t ever be a point forward in the mold of Lebron like Jiggy is insinuating
