Someone explain Silas' decision on subbing Sengun in with 5 fouls, and 9 minutes to go in the last quarter. What was in his damn mind... did he intentionally want Sengun to foul out? I do hope Sengun learns from this and plays some real defense from now on.

It's part of his adjustment to the higher level of play. Things he could get away with in Turkey, won't work the same in the NBA. He'll figure it out though.....I mean, he is still a teenager.

I don’t see the problem, if you get 6 fouls you sit, not 5.

    Don’t let the goatee fool you, he’s 19, that’s a teenager.

His biggest problems are fouls and turnovers, and increasingly offensive efficiency. Decision making has been poor.

LOL, he plays like it, but he's almost 5 months younger than the second youngest player on the Rockets roster, Garuba.

He got that Demarcus Cousins technique of wanting to rip point guards... Easiest way to take yourself out game situations where he's needed... Bigs always seem to get T'd up and have to be subbed out to calm them down after a failed steal attempt...

He's doing fine for a rookie big, especially one just now learning English. Bigs always take time to develop. He will beast in a couple of years.

Al P try to play aggressive Defense and normally the Rest of his team must try also play aggressive but if you see how easy Gobert and Mitchel did easy points in the paint. No one fouls no one play hard defense. Al P try to be the aggressive leader but he is the only one who try it. Last Quater Wood made offensive a strong game but this guy dont like to block. You cant play defense like this. There are so much player who can foul but they prefer to let the enemies score.
Sometimes you must foul them before they are in the paint.

He doesn't really make contact when he reaches. Usually reaching meant going for the steal and grabbing body parts. Hey oh.
But what these dudes have been doing and the nba was 'supposedly' correcting it, is bumping/lunging into that extended arm when going for the steal. Yet you see our young guards going up for a dunk or a lay up they're getting swapped forearms, shoulders, wrists with no calls. It's dumb.

What he really needs to stop doing is that pump fake when he is wide open for threes. Parsons used to do it and it annoyed me to no end, except that it worked more often because Parsons was a significantly better shooter from 3. Just let it fly so when the D is closer, there is a higher chance they will lunge at you because they instinctively believe you will actually shoot.

    I had to chuckle.
Everyone's been complaining about Silas keeping Alpie off the floor so much and NOW he's getting flak for bringing him back on it too much/soon! lol

Alpie just has to get used to the speed and athleticism of the league.
    It will come in time!
He can't just sit back and let his man blow by him multiple times and not do something about it like Wood can, he's got pride in not only his game but also his role in the defense!
    He cares!

But Silas has brought back early or left in multiple different players with 3 fouls in the 1st half, 4 in the 3rd, and 5 in the 4th quarter so you can't say he's got it in for Alpie.
At least not from that one data point!

Sometimes the best way to get a player to learn to play with foul trouble is to let them foul out and watch the game from the bench.
I have no worries that Alpie won't improve his fouling and defense between year 1 and 2.
Exactly how much will be interesting though!
