A bit rude? This is one of the most powerful governors in the country telling high school teenagers to take off their masks and then expressing exasperation when they don't.

It was typical pettiness from DeSantis and totally unnecessary.

Please explain how someone choosing to wear a mask (after all, DeSantis said Florida is the "freest state in the nation") is ridiculous. The kids may have had a reason. They may have a compromised relative. They may be compromised.

DeSantis was an ass in that situation and totally wrong to put them on the spot like that.

@AroundTheWorld here is a real life situation. Prior to my surgery, I had to have a negative COVID test a few days before at the hospital. Also, if I showed signs of COVID the day of, the surgery would be scrubbed and it would take at least 2 months to reschedule.

I took many precautions including wearing a mask when we had workers at the house and everytime I had to go somewhere.

Was that ridiculous? Apparently DeSantis thinks so. Even if it decreased my chances of getting COVID by only 5%, that is 5% I had some control over.

None of us know what others are going through in their lives so telling them they are being ridiculous, especially the most powerful person in the state to a teenager is wrong. Why can't you see that?

DeSantis was out of place, rude, bullying, had no idea of the kids situation. He acted like a big self-important baby.

There's a reason why he is getting so much flak from all of this.

I guess the bigger question... was it ever about the children... or their parents? Or was it about politics?

Exactly. What is this whole "Parents have rights" thing? Parents also have the rights to tell their kids to wear masks. He only wants "Parents' rights" when he agrees with the parents.

More ridiculousness... my physical therapist came by the house and he wears a mask and they expect me to as well.

he just came off like a b**** and a snowflake. you could see him getting angry and emotional about the fact that those kids were wearing masks. it was pathetic. he clearly has some issues.

It's bad enough to read his words, but to actually see and hear how he said it and his disgust afterwards makes it even worse.

Plus, his wife has cancer. As a courtesy, if I were to be around someone who has cancer or lives in the same house as someone with cancer, I'd wear a mask.

It's not anywhere close to being 100% correct. It much more close to being 100% incorrect.

Not all of them took the mask off, so clearly they still had a choice.

See... it was never about health, or children, or parents rights. It was about politics.

    Maybe from your side.

These masks do nothing for anyone's health. Time to ditch them.

Desperately clinging to them is only about politics.

But if someone wants to wear them, they can. If someone informs them that it's ridiculous and they still wear them because of pressure from crazy moms...sorry for them, but fine.

Are you saying that if I think DeSantis is an ass for the way he behaved towards high school kids that I should move to California or NY? Does that mean if people don't support EVERYTHING their leadership does, they should move out of state or out of the country? That's an asinine statement.

It was mainly the way he behaved towards a group of high school students.

Yes, it was a bit rude, but I maintain he was right on the merits.
