Morant is the quickest study I have seen since Jordan, Lebron and Luka. Duncan and CP3 were not bad themselves in their early career - Wake Forest!
I think Jalen can reach competing for all nba honors one day. He needs to do a lot to reach that level but the kid obviously has that kind of potential. I could pretty easily see him scoring 20-25 ppg one day. The real question is whether he can couple that with above average defense and improved court vision. Basically I am hoping for a better/more complete version of Zach Lavine.
I can see him developing his skill set like Jaylen Brown has over the years, but I can never see him running a team like Ja
That is the big problem, just because he worshipped Kobe when he was a kid does not make him Kobe. This whole work ethic thing, the 90s and 00s were a lot tougher on guards. Now in this NFT, bling bling era, Insta era, everything just seems surreal.
What's up with this curse thread? Ja is already MVP-tier, prime DWade. Jalen is an athletic project who seems like a nice kid.
My rose colored glasses view of the rebuild bascially envisions Green as a souped up version of Lavine, KPJ as a Lonzo Ball type and Sengun playing an awful lot like Domantas Sabonis. Christopher, Tate, Martin and Garuba off the bench. You add a foundational front court player and an additional role player via the draft this year and then sign a free agent in the summer of '23 and, voila, you have yourself a team that can play. All of these guys wont pan out most likely but this is just what I see as the vision at the moment.
OOOH, a follower instead of a free thinker - someone who follows false narratives.....shame.....shame......shame...... DD
Its too early to tell. As long as hes given the chance, he has time to improve and get better, maybe he'll get to Morants level... Time will tell, hoping for the best outcome
So is the mentality. Ja's rookie year was full of moments where he made sure to let the league know he's arrived and that he will be a problem who won't be backing down from anyone. He established a killer mindset that's stuck with him since, which is something you either have or you don't folks are forgetting how much he was talking vs the rockets where he went off in Jan 2020 and destroyed them
I didn't say he sucks or will suck, but we are talking about Ja Morant here, a generational talent, Green is growing and has good upside, but he is not close to Ja Morant level. Imagine Ja playing in the Gleague at 19....you think his stats would have been the same as Greens? Morant is a super unique HIGHLY SKILLED player at a very young age....Green is a great athlete that is learning how to play the NBA game and get his skill levels up so he can properly utilize his athleticism. Green reminds me of Steve Francis - which ain't bad.....a great player in his day, but not an all time great. Ja is special. DD
I don't see Jalen reaching Ja status. Ja is now a Top 10 player in the league. He just has "IT"! I think Jalen will be a really really good player by year 3 but I don't think he will remain a Rocket after 2025 if he expects MAX money. Maybe I am wrong and I will be happy if I am cause that means HE IS A SUPERSTAR!
If JG reaches Morant levels, I would be extatic. Morant was more skilled coming into the league so Green has to close that gap with work ethic during the off-season. We'll see if there is a chance for Green to reach this status after this upcoming off-season. We need to see how much he is capable of progressing between offseasons. He can make a significant jump or be like Ant with a only slightly better second season.
Love ya DD; but you will be eating crow with the rest of the buzzards here trying to trash the kid before he gets established.
Most likely not. Ja is more of a natural point guard. I think it's realistic for Jalen to average +25PPG +5APG in his prime/at his peak.
