I remember Thor musing to Jane Foster on how Asgardian science was so advanced that people thought it was magic in Thor 1. Then they sort of forgot about that moment.

I think Feige wanted to focus the original MCU on science since Iron Man, Hulk and Cap were all science based. Then the MCU became the juggernaut it is and they were like meh, blank check.

Leaning into magic allows them to bring in the supernatural side of the Marvel comics stable with big sellers like Blade and Ghost Rider. Since The MCU is expanding into big budget TV they need more than one storyline and angle to expand viewer’s interest. If you look at the comics there’s always a yearly event but not all of the factions (x-men, spidey, avengers, fantastic four, supernatural, independent) always take place.

The comics are even more subdivided now more than ever with the Hulk building on its own expanded mythos, Venom splitting off into its own mini storylines, etc.

It’s all very exciting for a lifelong comics dork like myself. I just hope that Feige can keep the Titanic headed in the right direction but so far he’s been rock solid with very few missteps.

    MCU Phase XXVI:
    THE WRATH OF DEADPOOL

It is a period of civil wars in the MCU. A brave alliance of underground freedom fighters has challenged the tyranny and oppression of the awesome DISNEY EMPIRE

Striking from a fortress hidden among the billion houses of the suburbs, rebel taco trucks have won their first victory in a battle with the powerful Asgardian flying boat fleet. The EMPIRE fears that another defeat could bring a thousand more plebian nerds into the rebellion, and Imperial control over the streaming televisions would be lost forever.

To crush the rebellion once and for all, the EMPIRE is constructing a sinister new taco truck. Powerful enough to feed an entire planet, its completion spells certain doom for the champions of freedom.

A young mutant discovers a large hammer in the great strip mall waste. He reaches down....

Wolverine can kick rocks. My favorite part of Logan was when he died.

From the trailers, it looks like this movie will be giving lots of screen time to America Chavez, the lesbian Latino superhero.

She's wearing a Captain America jacket. I wouldn't be surprised at all if they've made her the new Captain America, LGBTQ-style.

The wokeness of Kevin Feige is just destroying the MCU.

Kind of a random character to shoehorn into a movie like this one.

Her signature power is literally to access different dimensions. She's also a fairly popular 'new' hero and is a powerhouse as she has a lot of Superman-esque powers like flight, strength, invulnerability.

I agree that Fiege and Disney are a little too 'woke' (something that I think they've recognized lately) but in this case, the shoe fits. If she was a non-binary person who identified as a dung beetle it would be weird and over the top. But in it's not like lesbians are that rare, and does the MCU already have a lesbian hero? Not that I've seen.

It's good that she may fit. I just don't care for shoehorning, it has to make sense, which in this case it does. Personally, lack of (or excessive) representation doesn't matter to me as long as the story is good and it makes sense. I'm not watching Marvel for sexual preferences or identity politics, just here for the great storytelling.

Heck, if the superhero can morph, why not identify as a beetle? Not weird in context.

Meh, they made her after the Disney merger and during their "Xmen comics embargo" where they shifted away from anything Fox could use in movies (which is also why we have an Eternals movie)

I mean she might be alright, but there's a conscious effort to shoehorn her in.

Is anyone else getting sick of the multiverse as a plot device?
I even like the whole Dr. Strange arc through comics and I enjoyed his first standalone movie, but after the Spiderverse, the Avengers vs Grimace, the new Michelle Yeoh movie, and even alternate realities ruining Man in the High Castle... I can't even get myself interested in this new offering from Dr. S.

I don't like it in physics, and I don't need much more of it in movies.

    Sad!

Frankly it is necessary to introduce Mutants into the MCU.

There is a universe out there in which that universe's B-Bob is excited about the multiverse continuing to be a plot device.

How could atl real ruin MITHC, Man in the High Castle is entirely based on alternative realities, that's the entire point and the book was written in the 1960s?

There is an entire genre based on alternative realities and it's a staple of Comics, especially DC with all the different earths, my point being there is a market for this stuff, but I don't like Marvel leaning so heavily into it.

WTF is the Avengers vs Grimace?

Why do you need that to introduce mutants, I thought they were in the regular reality in the comics.

Are you talking about because of Thanos?

Because if so, how can they introduce a ton of other characters if they needed.

Because the continuity doesn't make sense without it. They were just absent in the world when all this major **** was going down? Sokovia accords, infinity war, etc? It doesn't make sense. And the Avengers just ignored all Magnetos shenanigan's, the sentinels, etc?

The only thing that really makes is that those other "shows" never existed in the MCU timeline, and now the multiverse can easily introduce them all into the same setting. There is no other way to make sense of all of this without a multiverse.

Theres 3 spider mans, 2 quick silvers, 2 hulks. One Human Torch and Captain America are the same person. One human torch is also killmonger.

There has been no mention of mutants in the MCU since the beginning, and now Xavier exists? A massive well known "walking" weapon of mass destruction.

I don't care about continuity at least not at that level so it would not bother me at all, and I suspect 80% of other people that like these movies.

I don't remember the comic books having to tie in with the same timelines and there being mostly lip service.

The multiverse itself does not make much sense unless you want it to, so I think if they get everything else right with the movie, it would not be an issue.

They are going to to something with X Men at some point, so it's inevitable.

They can retcon all of the Human Torches, that's the least problem.

I guess this is the easy way to get everybody they need when they want but it does not make it better IMO it's kinda cheating.

Are we to believe the Avengers are the only superpowered beings on the planet, which destroys any continuity to the comics.
