It's important to remind people who can't let it go that Mobley wouldn't have played for Houston if we drafted him -- he wouldn't even come in for a pre draft workout.
It is important to remember that, he would have had no choice, he NEVER said he wuold not play for Houston, he just wouldn't work out for us. And it is the GM's JOB to get the pick right. DD
I like Mobley and would be happy with him on the Rockets, but unfortunately that was never going to happen.
I think that's overblown. Its just a defense the team says to avoid blame like when Divac said he didnt draft Luka cuz he wouldnt play for Sac. Mobley didnt come to the Rox cuz it was clear Green was our choice, the owner even picked him and JC in his private jet prior to the draft. In that scenario trust and impartiality is already lost so he wont work out for the Rox. But in a parallel universe where the Rox decided on Mobley I'm sure Mobley would still play for the Rox. I mean how much worse are the Cavs vs Rox prior to the draft? Like I said technically picking Green was the wrong choice but its part of risk management, I'd rather have the sure thing than roll the dice at the top of the draft. It's the same reasoning I want Smith over Chet no 1 in this year's draft. I feel like atthe top of the draft you dont need to gamble and take even higher upside players when you got a more or.less sure thing available.
More or less. Green is a bonafide 6th pick and not a 2nd one, good but not great, he could be great but the odds were never that good to begin with. Risky, raw and at a position that was not needed. 6'4, very skinny, did not start playing ball until it was late. Chet might look like a ready player next to him.
He's not 2nd pick worthy. Hopefully I get proven wrong. But this dude is not a franchise player. This is a lesson learn to Tilman to not get involved in drafting or choosing who he wants, and never listen to the fans. I felt like Tilman wanted Jalen Green for the idiot fans so he can fill in seats at Toyota.
Running straight into defenders is stupid - with or without strength. He needs to expand his offensive bag which does not require strength. YOU are the one fixated on Green gaining strength overnight. Not me.
Missing the point on drafting Mobley. He was NOT another Poku. Limited info is such a poor excuse, this is exactly what analytics and scouting teams are for. It was not limited info that led horrible choice not to draft Mobley, it was a shyte GM that ignored advice of his own draft team.
Like I said, throw in FRP and I'd consider it. Green is not very good right now, and for next 3 seasons more likely.
Ever heard of this one player named Steve Francis? About 6'3, played for the Rockets? I wonder how we got him?
Yeah but for YEARS you wanted to throw players who were better and multiple 1sts for the "potential" of Gordon. And NOW when we suck and are rebuilding you wanna trade potential away for some whack 1st and a slight upgrade? It's back-asswards. Green has much more potential than Gordon ever did, and is likely currently better rn then Gordon was back then. Also, within 3 years I believe Green will be better than Gordon ever gets
this is overblown, Green doesn't nearly have the fame people make it out to be. He's not that well known that he can just fill in seats in Houston.
Said I'd consider it, you're getting your pubes twisted for nothing. AG doesnt want anything to do with this shetshow and I wanted him paired with Harden anyway. Don't believe half of what you read, and put the rest in context.
NONE of the top 5 players other than Green worked out for Rockets. That is not on the rooks, THAT'S ON THE ROCKETS.
That doesn't matter who it's on, it's called lacking data for assessment. It's not a good sign when a player projected to be top 2-3 pick to refuse to show up for workout. historically it usually means their camp is pushing them away from a franchise which is never good. Suggs for example had a terrible workout with the Raptors, which solidified the Raptors skipping him. Markelle Fultz had a horrible workout with the Celtics, which is one of the main reasons why they gave up their pick to draft Tatum. It's usually a safe move to draft based on what you see in a workout. I have no doubt Detroit made their decision between Cade and Jalen based on what they saw as well. Mobley actually refused to workout with Detroit and the Rockets. His camp is weird.
My pubes are fine and dandy. Seems yours are ruffled. I bring it up because I used to really respect your opinion and thoughtful analysis but you've been getting significantly worse and worse and its sad to see. The fact you would even "consider" is baffling. Unless it was a top 3 guaranteed pick, which Denver couldn't deliver, even entertaining the idea of considering it is hogwash. What does this insignificant ass cry for attention tweet even supposed to mean in this convo?
