I believe strongly in diplomacy and efforts made to work out disagreements.. but I also believe in pattern recognition. We have 20 years of Putin and his actions, and even the timing of his military actions....... and there is ZERO reason to believe he will stop. We don't need to give him time to workout further agreements with China and to profit off of the Ukraine. Now is the time to act. If they do not want to send in troops, then send in air support. What we are doing is kicking the can down the road until he attempts to annex or destroy another nation. Putin has already put his cards on the table.
Not that I'm suggesting NATO intervention but the idea that NATO is purely defensive hasn't been borne out in practice. NATO has both intervened and operated no fly zones in the Serbia-Kosovo War and the Bosnian War. I think the no fly zone over Libya was also technically performed by NATO. With that said, I think all three of these instances had security council resolutions behind them but given Russia's veto power that isn't an option. But fundamentally, NATO has participated in peacekeeping missions and no fly zones before.
We are putting pressure on him and those around him to hopefully take him out.......like Khadaffi and Mussolini etc... DD
I am not pming you, I have said all I need to say on the subject. Next time, stop getting caught up in your feelings because somebody has a thought that does not agree with you. The fact that you think because your family is from there it makes you some kind of expert is laughable. Yes, please don't respond anymore, and I will do the same. Good day sir!
TRUE peacekeeping missions, not conquering missions. Even if the effect of a no fly zone is supporting one side, it's not the same as NATO forces seizing control of a nation and subjugating them. NATO hasn't helped Lithuania or Poland reclaim historic lands.
That may be true. Even if "legal" and approved, that kind of escalation possibly leads to air raid sirens 20 minutes before impact in your home town however.
The amount of people willing to risk nuclear annihilation of the planet because they finally see how terrible war is on social media is staggering.
I don't agree with this at all nobody actually thinks Trump fixes this and a lot of people will think he makes it worse. Crazier things have happened, but I think it's more likely he is drooling in a cup by 2024.
I know but what is an off ramp that actually satisfies Putin at this point? I struggle to see anything really that allows him to save face. Seems like either he goes, or we all go at this point.
Yeah the same guy who told Esper and his cabinet that he wanted to leave NATO. They pushed back saying it would be political suicide and Trump responded he would wait until his 2nd term. That is the exact reason Putin didn't attack under Trump and tried to get him re-elected. He knew if Trump won the de-facto leader of NATO would leave and allow Putin to do whatever he wanted in Ukraine without U.S. resistance. Trump lost so Putin invaded. It really is that simple.
To tell the truth I have no idea, I think he comes up dead more than likely because nobody is untouchable and this is affecting a lot of people who have a lot to lose. Just going by history, somebody wants that seat that can get to him.
You put Trump in a room with Putin right now, and I guarantee you Putin would manipulate him in two seconds to talk about the "stolen" election, and blame European allies who "rigged" machines for Biden. It would take that long for Trump to be willing to go back to the allies and say that the agreement is to dismember NATO, and reinstall me as US president. No wonder right wingers are pushing for Trump to be sent to Moscow. Only reason he should be going to Moscow is if he's staying there for good.
It's crazy, but the more and more I think about whats happening in context of history, the more and more likely it is that he's dead in weeks. Unless more people in Russia believe the same crap he does, and he has more support than we think, I just don't see how he stays alive.
