Relax....they were waiting for them to be within artillery range.

Russia's 17-mile convoy is thwarted on the road to Kyiv

"The satellite images showed a vast Russian convoy bogged down on the road to Kyiv.

Military experts said the column stretching up to 17 miles was a sitting duck for Ukrainian artillery and drone strikes. About 20 miles from where it was last spotted, the Russian advance appeared to have hit a wall."

Agreed but it IS a problem. He is the Senior Senator from one of the largest and wealthiest states in the Union and finished second in the last Republican Presidential Primary…. So the two largest and arguably prominent Republicans in the country are insane.

I agree that a number of prominent Republicans have either been quiet or have spoken out against Putin… but it would be nice is people like Trump and Cruz were marginalized.

The famous weapon from Vietnam was the daisy cutter and it's actually not thermobaric. I agree about the use of them - what I was getting at was it's equally terrible no matter what type of weapon kills people in particular innocent civilians.

Racism and bias… both explicit and implicit exist all over the USA and the world…. However comparing the Ukraine to the Middle East is a real stretch. There are a number of serious differences, including the fact that Russia has large scale nuclear weapons, is along with China, the biggest threat in the world… Ukraine is the second largest nation in Europe and borders a number of NATO nations and Putin is arguably the second most powerful man in the world… and Russia adding the Ukraine would change the landscape greatly and the global impact is huge, with Germany now jumping to the third best funded military in the world.

So someone can look for and fine some degree of bias in anything, but to say that the Ukraine is getting attention from the USA and the West because the people are blonde haired and blue eyed is not accurate.

Agree 100%. But it's one thing to launch rockets where someone can take shelter and another to send an explosive gas that was designed to get into hidden spaces and burn whatever is there. Sounds pretty horrific to use against civilians. Not that killing people is better by any other means.

It just feels like they are using a weapon like this to inflict a special kind of human suffering.

Qatar can fulfill German needs (LNG) as the later lack storage and needed facilities to substitute Russian gas lines , the US can cover the rest of EU demands , win-win situation for both ,Biden's admin seems to had anticipated this step in advance.
on the other hand , Saudi/UAE probably will resist injecting more oil supplies and will stick with OPEC+

I was surprised to find out that Netherland and UK alone import more Oil/gas from Russia than China

I mean when you hear reporters make the comments they do, what else does that mean? Why would someone say, "I cant believe this is happening to blonde blue eyed people?"

I'm not arguing that Ukraine is getting attention because of that, I'm arguing that people feel its more relevant to them and personal because of it.

I can't tell you how many times I heard people comment about civilians who got killed in the middle east with the responses, "well they shouldn't have bombed the wtc" or "that what you get for x" I don't think it's looking bias as it is just recognizing there is a lot of bias.

This is overly simplistic and honestly doesn’t take into consideration the culture of Russia, how power was earned and handled in Russia and how incredibly lawless it was. The United States in its hubris believed that democracy could be plugged into any nation and thrive. The reality is the culture of Russia was not conducive for straight democracy and Russia likes strong men.

With the Marshall Plan we took over nations and removed all negative powers and influencers in the nation we wanted gone. We didn’t do that in Russia and we didn’t have that degree of control.

The United States and Western Europe is not responsible for the current situation in Russia. The influencers and power brokers in Russia are responsible.

And to be clear, I am not saying we are responsible or implying that all. I am only saying it was a missed opportunity. It's fair to say that Russian culture wouldn't allow it, but I don't believe that. There were analysts who said it wouldn't work, and those that said it would. We didn't try so we'll never know.

Why would someone say that? Because it isn’t often in the life span of those living where countries that have lots blonde hair and blue eyed people have been attacked.

Someone can look at that quote and say that the person that said it thinks that blonde haired and blue eyed nations are special inherently…. Or they could take the comment at face value, European countries and Greenland, Iceland, USA, Canada have not for the most part been invaded in a long time and it IS a surprise that it’s happening based on recent history.

I respectfully disagree. I don't think it's the later part, especially given that Europe did have a relatively recent conflict in its backyard when Yugoslavia fractured. I can only tell you that it's a double standard that I've seen in how many whites view the world - and I've seen this throughout my life and its fairly consistent even amongst liberals. It's not a fully conscious thing. And I will leave it at that. I understand you and many others may disagree.

Surely they can't be this stupid, convoys are ready-made targets on a single road.
The conflict in Yugoslavia had a lot to do with a large section of the population wanting to get rid of Muslims and gypsies, not exactly blonde haired and blue eyed people.

Sorry if I am misconstruing what you are trying to say.

Sometimes some posts seem out of context when I read a thread. And then I realize that there are still some posters who haven't put that poster on ignore.

I am trying to say that it was in Europe so its not like people should be shocked by a war in Europe. In fact it was much closer being between Austria and Greece.

Yikes. French president Macron spoke to Putin today and came away more worried that the situation would escalate saying “There are good reasons to fear civilians will be targeted more massively and without precautions by the Russians.”

You don’t even know Ukrainian gun rights. What were the gun rights in the Ukraine 6 months ago?

Pray tell who will invade us? Also about 40,000 Americans die each year as a result of gun shots. Since 9-11 800,000 Americans have died from guns.

Take your bulletin board bullshit and go *** on a ***** while a dog **** in **** and **** sucking a ***** snowball.
