I would like to see us try and build around a big man again. Maybe use both the #3 and #17 (guess) from Brooklyn on bigs.

Besides, we got guards a plenty.

With Embiid, Jokic and Towns leading their teams to promising results, bigs are back and Houston needs to get in on it.

Tired of being out muscled and outplayed close to the basket.

    Just so I am clear. . . ..
    IS IT BETTER
The Nets play the Play in game at #10 spot and goes to the Eastern Conference Finals
    or
The Nets make it to #5 and lost in the 1st round

Basically is the pick based on where they are at the end of the season
    or
    Where they end up overall?

Who did you have in mind? Those aren't just "good" bigs you mentioned, those are elite/MVP players, and nobody's trading them to you for the #3 and #17. If you're saying move up in the draft to get one, nobody in this draft is on those players' levels right now. Maybe in the future, but none near them now. Building around a big man requires you be able to get a really great big man, and those don't just show up in every draft. Even as well as Embiid, Jokic, and Towns are, they haven't really "led" their teams to anything.

You're not going to solve every problem this team has in one or two drafts. You just hope you get better. It's still "best player available" for me. I'm not wasting a top-5 or so pick on any big in this draft other than Banchero or Holmgren and neither one of those are on the level of the NBA players you mentioned yet from what little I've seen of them.

Doesn’t matter what they do in the playoffs once they get in.

    so the lower the better.

While it’s unlikely that the Nets pick yields us a star, it’s going to be a much better pick than I thought it would be.

Shoutout to Kyrie and Harden for making this 10 spots better than it should’ve been.

I took it to mean that the Rockets should use both picks on bigs. It looks like we got a good one last year in Sengun, so would it be crazy to go with Banchero and Mark Williams if he were to fall to us (or Walker Kessler) rather than a Kennedy Chandler?

I wouldn’t have a problem with that. I think we have to think that Stone has some idea who will be available via trade this summer. If he thinks he can get the team a better PG via trade than he can in the draft, I’d go all big in the draft this year.

The Hornets and Hawks need to step the **** up and leapfrog the Nets man! I mean the Hawks should have already got it together! They need to stop messing around !

No kidding. I was hoping the Hawks and Hornets were going to turn things around eventually, and I sure as hell don't trust the Timberwolves.

Well, if we lose tomorrow, we'll help the Clippers pass the Nets, and help ourselves pass the Pistons at the other direction. One Stone two birds.

    Unless something has changed :

It doesn't matter which round of the playoffs they make it to -- if they make it to the playoffs, they're not in the lottery.
If they don't make it to the playoffs, they're in the lottery.

In your scenario, if the #10 team is the Nets and they play in the play-in tournament, they'll play the #9 seed.
If they lose that game, they're in the lottery.
If they win that game, they have to play the loser of the #7/#8 play-in game.
If they win that game, they go to the playoffs.
If they lose that game, they're in the lottery.

I got this image from Wikipedia which is never wrong :

Houston should probably just have a one-track mind at this point no matter who they play. Just lose, baby! Not that they're going to struggle with that, but ... :D

We won't have to add TOO much and we could have the 10th pick.

What if the lottery bound Nets came in as a lucky Rocket top pick. Can you imagine the horror of a Brooklyn fan. I know that's very remote chance but it's possible and that alone is crazy. Nets should have been a 1 seed in the East.
