The more I watch Nikola JoVic the more I hope that he's available and chosen with the nets pick. JoVic's 6-10 point forward skill set paired with Sengun's vision and overall game (and the right coach) would completely change the dynamic of this team. Regardless of which big they take with the top pick, they will have a front court of highly skilled, smart, team players who can really move the ball and leave KPJ and Green to do their thing and be on attack mode from the outside in. They will still be a young team, but they will be a much smarter, less selfish, nastier team who no one can call small anymore. Finally! KPJ (6-4) Green (6-4) JoVic (6-10) Top Pick (6-10 to 7) Sengun (6-10)
Those kits are absolute abortions. The league this kid is in is a MUCH weaker league than where we got Sengun and he's not doing anywhere near as well. The pick would likely be closer to a Garuba type selection that would be a multi year project.
Agree on the uniforms--horrible and definitely the worst I've ever seen! The league may not be be Turkey, however, Jovic has totally different skill set than Garuba. His issue will be playing defense in the NBA and adjusting to the speed/athleticism of the players. He's got a very compact shot for a big guy and it looks like it can be consistently good. Sound fundamentally. decent passer and handles, which can be tightened up. Need to watch him more to see what he looks like on defense, but he looks decent and we could definitely use some shooters with length.
I'm not overly fussed with rankings. I need to see it for myself. Garuba was one of the top ranked international prospects too and he'll take years to even come close to belonging on an NBA court. I'll watch more of him for sure, but given the really weak league he plays in and the fact that he's not dominating it, I think best case we're still talking about a guy who would be a Viper for a long time before he'd be a Rocket.
Just a feeling. Gonna stick with it. Really doesnt matter if he takes a bit to adjust. Most all do. There are a few wings with the size and needed skill set, that would fit nicely for sure. I think he is the best fit for this team.
The Nets essentially traded Jarrett Allen(all-star), Caris LeVert(3rd team in two years) & 7 first round picks(unprotected and pick swaps I think) for a disgruntled (and currently injured) Ben Simmons, Seth Curry, Drummond & two late firsts that might not convey.
I totally agree that they should not make an exception for Kyrie not following the rule. It's just that the rule is so dumb applying only to NY employees and not for visiting people. How does that help fight the pandemic?
I think the Nets picks over the next 5 years will really be a treasure trove. I dont even know if Kyrie will want to re-up there.
