Lol. Your comment just reminded me of people who hate the taste of Mexican coke but love that good ol American high fructose corn syrup in their Cola.

Call me when Chris Madrids or any other burger from a Mom and Pop type shop is consistently good in hundreds of locations. I hate that argument when people discuss fast food burgers.

These west coast people flooding into Texas have some real slander for Whataburger. I wouldn't mind it if In N Out wasn't a regular burger. The way these people hype that basic burger joint up to slander Whataburger is ridiculous.

This works better at the counter than in the drive thru, though the drive thru would be a solid Cali move

Easy fix: Whataburger will do whatever you want, right?

Get a Jr Whataburger with however many patties and cheeses they want

Add grilled onions and lettuce and tomato as desired

Ask for "animal sauce" or whatever, They will say "but we have all these other, better sauces and I don't know what that is?" Ignore this.

Ask for the oldest, most cardboardest, fries in the restaurant; when they say "these are all fresh", just say any fries from the morning shift or out of the trashcan will do

Ask for this to be served on a paper-lined tray, laying down sideways, with a mixture of mayo and 1000 Island dressing slathered all over it.

BOOM. Instant In and Out at Whataburger

And hope the morning shift barely cooked the fries…

Just want to reaffirm: as a west-coaster who has suffered In-n-Out several times... it's completely inferior to Whataburger. Completely. I even have a friend in Texas who will ship me some of the Whataburger sauces from HEB, LOL.

The basic In-N-Out burger is okay, just maybe a notch above Burger King, but don't even get me started on the industry-worst fries. I have no idea how you can consistently mess up fries to that extent. It speaks of a fundamentally broken and rigid recipe. I feel bad for the workers who must cry into the potato slaughter they oversee every damned day.

In N' Out burgers are just okay to me, nothing special. I heard so much hype but it didn't meet expectations. Whataburger's "limited time" menu is always better. My favorite burger chain though is Joy Love Burger.

Just had a Whataburger with jalepenos and cheese after years of not having one.

    How I have missed thee....

Fun hack: Get a taquito with cheese, potatoes, jalapenos, sausage and bacon. It'll cost about $5, but it's totally worth a try.

Their "jimmy dean" sausage gives me heartburn on occasion (so I don't order it that often), but everything else you just said is how I order mine.

    And add salsa at home.

You can also completely lazyman the hell out of a homemade taquito, and it takes less time than driving to whataburger or wherever.

Keep a small bag of frozen hash browns in your freezer. Cook enough for 2 tacos.

I'm assuming you have tortillas, salsa, egg, cheese? Or if not, use whatever.

What you really, really need is some chorizo from a local meximarket. Cook it, drain the grease. Or bacon if you're a gringo.

    Cook stuff.

Make taco(s). Your buddy is still in the drive-thru line at Whataburger, right now, btw.
