    That's the point.

You seem like the typical bully that tries to act tough and then runs away at the first sign of potential confrontation.

You have fully joined the MRGA movement.

I agree. I think for either the Russians or the US nukes would only be used if it looked like they were already on the brink of annihilation. This is why people were so resistant to even the idea of small nukes to be used as bunker busters.

Following up on @Major post. Yes that is an escalation and no country wants to be cut off from the global financial system. That’s the point of this action.

What I don’t get is what should Biden and NATO being doing then?

You claim Biden is weak but don’t want him to take action that would actually punish the Russians?

On the discussion of Nukes, I think you have to be extremely careful with your messaging.

Putin can't fire Nukes, he can order people to fire Nukes.

But if you are Boris the Nuclear site director, how enthusiastic will he be about pushing those buttons if the world is not physically attacking the Russia and it is clear that Putin is just desperate and losing control.

Hard to push that button because of economic sanctions.

Very similar to America, when the generals were safeguarding against Trumps lunacy.

As long as the Russian people are not being killed, and Putin is clearly the aggressor, I think the way to go is too set stage of a military coup to upend Putin.

These imbeciles are not thinking intelligently or strategically. They are acting out based on their emotions and engaging in 'virtue signaling,' without consideration of what the consequences of their actions will be - the costs and the benefits - or what will be required to deal with that. They are not thinking ahead and this approach will continue to fail them, just as it has consistently up to this time.

This is already a disaster and the actions that these misguidedly arrogant posers are currently taking are almost certainly going to result in this becoming a bigger disaster still. And not just for the Russians.

Yuge if true, but I don't think it's confirmed.

Mojoman already said the Russian aggression is justified earlier in this thread. He thinks the world should let Russia have Ukraine.

Yes. Also during the darkest days of Watergate Kissinger was so worried about Nixon’s state of mind that he told the Joint Chiefs of staff that any orders regarding Nukes should be checked with him first.

Zelinsky made that claim but I haven’t seen other sources confirm it. Considering Turkey is a NATO member this could get much worse if they get dragged into it

What please tell is the intelligence and strategic insight for Russia taking Ukraine. Please don't tell me its because Ukraine could go to NATO and there might be hardware next to Russia - that's already happened multiple times with other countries next to Russia.

What's the Russian endgame here? They had the superior force and exercised it. The only way the west can get leverage is to use the weapons they have at their disposable which are financial. If you can get Putin to the table and to withdrawal from Ukraine, that's a win and indeed it is worth continually escalating sanctions to drive that point home.
