resigning Wood would probably be the last straw for me with Stone. I would gladly lend my voice to the chorus screaming for his removal. It’s not defensible to resign Wood. You’d have to be watching a completely different basketball team not to see that.

Use Wood + Nets pick to move up in the draft. Portland may make some sense that 7th pick looks sexy.

Oh, I had no hunch that there were straws with Stone. Okeydoke.

Would be a great stretch 4 next to Sengun if he was bought in and Silas insisted on it. Just needs to go learn how to win somewhere, he needs to be working with Lucas more than he needs to be treated like a franchise player.

Very Fair point , I feel that in this modern age of basketball everyone on the court has to be able to shoot / spread the floor - wouldn’t mind having him slide down to 4 to hide his lack of interior defense. We need a Beast in the middle to compete, and I love Sengun but he lacks the same defensive presence Wood does.

Normally I’d agree with you but he can’t guard the perimeter either. The value of him putting up 20 and 10 and shooting 36% from 3 is while guarding the 5. He’s not a strong enough perimeter defender or rotator to play the 4 or wing. I think from a team building standpoint I’d rather have a low usage wing who plays team defense and give his usage to the future actualized version of Jalen green with a strong defensive 5. That’s a better use of salary and resource allocation in.

Watch Wood be resigned just to spite all of us...nobody better be making a Christian Wood appreciation thread before he’s REALLY gone!

Only a fool would pay CWood the “big bucks” in this situation.

Very well stated - however the suns are such a great shooting team and playing a catch and lob threat (center) with CP3 doesn’t clog the paint because CP3 is that good. Very few teams if any can get away with this style of play.

Point taken - good feedback I agree currently all our bigs in the Rotation allow anyone to attack the basket. A Chet or Smith would hide Wood keep ur fingers crossed-

He already tried to trade him to the Lakers. So i’d take this as no re-sign in 2023.

He has had a reputation since his UNLV days. His scouting reports have used words like lack of effort and unprofessional. This was why he wasn’t drafted.

He’s worth about what they are paying him now. Until his game evolves, there’s no way he should be getting paid more.

Well we know now they have been shopping him as he was reportedly in the Wall trade with the Lakers. My biggest question is why Rockets believed in him in the first place. I think Rox knew Harden Morey and gang were leaving before media and fans and had to do something as a stopgap measure. They got a fair price for Wood and gambled in hopes of a high return but knew the risks that’s why they gave him 3 years. They did the same with KPJ taking on low risk and money hoping for big rewards knowing he is coming up on a rookie extension. Wood and KPJ may be temp bandaid stopgaps in the first couple years in the post Harden transition phase. I would imagine this team going another direction in terms of draft and free agents post Wood KPJ short-lived era. Because we all know this current team ain’t it.

You literally cannot guarantee Wood a Playoff spot in the next 2-3 years......does he want to get paid staying on a bad or mediocre team?

It does not make any sense for him.

Doesn't mean the powers that be still won't do it. Unfortunately, after neither CW or EG getting dealt....anything's possible.

But if this is the case why not trade him? Wouldn't you rather get something for him rather than letting him walk for free, if you have no intentions of keeping him on the team for his next contract?
