This is a good point. What ends up happening here is arguments morph into this player vs this and not just a discussion about 1 player. So the hate for green isn't as much a hate for green as it is a longing for mobley. I do think Mobely is a good rookie but I also think in this league and the way the game is played, he is closer to his ceiling than green is to his (or cade for that matter). I don't think he is going to be a guy they run their offense through (garland will play they role) and I think he is close to what he will be as a defensive player (which is pretty darn good and someone who will win dpoy for sure).
But bc there is that constant need to show how one side is right, it leads to outlandish declarations on both sides.

Huh? Cade is 3 percentage points below Green in true shooting percentage.

I remember but there was much more going on in the world, the vaccine was coming etc.

I told other posters to focus on other aspects of life......now basketball has come back as a more important factor.

Can't tell what people need to be fair, that is too big an issue for me to handle.

For me only 3 things would be more instrumental than rebuilding.

    1. A new owner
    2. A better coach, a defensive approach
    3. Possibly a GM change/A change in culture and more discipline/Hierarchy

I think both parties are dragging out the conversation.

All about what his efficiency needs to be ....bla bla.....

The Offseason has begun IMO. Not offically.

It is not as interesting as both parties want it to be...........20+ games left, no real topics to talk about other than Chet and the Draft.

A Jeff gundy with a offensive assistant would be great. I think this team needs the mental toughness before a effective offense though. To put it in perspective, it needs a mark Jackson right now and will need a Steve Kerr later

    Disagree.
    Atleast not for efficiency purposes.

AFAIK his midrange percentage is very very awful. I remember him taking quite a few but i can't really remember more than 2 or 3 makes.

PS: Just checked, numbers match the eye test. His midrange shooting percentages are worse than awful.

    FG by distance:

    0-3-------.627
    3-10-----.232
    10-16----.231
    16-3P----.317
    3P --------.311

Thank you. It looks like that FT line jumper will become a part of his game later, but the priority by far is improving his 3 and his footwork/finishing at the rim.

Fg% Green is only behind .3% now it’s only 1% from 3 ahead of Green.

I’m just referring to straight fg%. Green has made up a lot of ground the last month or so.

If the best version of this Rockets team three seasons from now has them staggering Porter and Green, there needs to be a lot more work in that department. They’ve only played 35 games together out of 58 possible — which isn’t ideal for your basic reps-to-retention rate — but right now, there’s a stark difference in how those units fare.

In 835 minutes with both Green and Porter on the floor, the Rockets’ offensive rating is essentially the worst in the NBA (102.3). For reference, the last-placed Thunder have a 102.0 rating. With Green off the floor and Porter running the show, Houston has a 112.3 offensive rating in 338 minutes, which would be top 10. Alternatively, the Rockets with Green operating without Porter on the floor have an offensive rating of just 96.3 in 472 minutes. Those figures have jumped some since Jan. 1; Houston’s offensive rating with both is now 107.0, 120.5 for with Porter only and 100.2 for with Green only.

Well 17 ppg on 60% TS is pretty elite efficiency, I don't think it's a realistic expectation at this point for him to keep that up.

I think if he can maintain 55% TS or above for the rest of the reason, it would already be a success compared to the disaster start to the season.

Right now he has the shot selection of Zach Lavine, but his 3 pointer is bad/inconsistent so it swings his efficiency from Terrible to Great depending how his shots falling. It would help a lot if he could get to the line more because it offsets some of the variance in his 3 point shot, but he doesn't have the body for it yet to bang inside.

Either way it's been a pretty lukewarm year for Green, but at least he is showing signs of improvement.

Green’s scoring and efficiency is what it is this year…it sucks

I’d like to see him contribute more in other areas…can’t be playing 30 minutes and getting 2 boards and 1 assist

Can I get some 5 boards, 3 assists type of nights on a consistent basis?

Do we have to start this? Mobley had a subpar game so now the crowing.

Season stats: 14.9 ppg, 8.1 rpg, 2.6 apg
Since last Ladder: 22.0 ppg, 10.0 rpg, 4.0 apg

Season stats: 14.6 ppg, 3.1 rpg, 2.3 apg
Since last Ladder: 19.0 ppg, 1.0 rpg, 1.5 apg

Who would you prefer? I already know, the player with 1 rebound and 1.5 assists. Got it.

And don't forget, can't run an offense through Mobley but he still offensively out performs all rooks but one.

And that one is not a Rocket.

Let's not even bother comparing defense or rebounds or IQ or length.

One Mobley suffices for an entire lifetime.

KPJ is quite frankly just a better overall player than Green is right now. No question. The numbers don’t lie and all the statistical data seems to indicate that Green is at this time a net negative player on the floor. I think the numbers also show that he is improving.

As far as the numbers when you split them up, a little context matters here. Very curious to see how this plays out the remainder of the season with Dennis Schroder in the mix. When Green is off the floor, the guys replacing him have been Gordon, Mathews, and Josh Christopher. All more efficient players than Green if I’m being honest. Conversely, when KPJ went off the floor, he was replaced with DJ Augustine or Gordon attempting and usually failing at running the point. Schroder, although I’m not a huge fan, is a big upgrade as a backup PG.
