We have to pump up those numbers dude. We gotta push because only having 24% of the world's prison population with 4% of the world's overall population is weak.


And this is exactly why I don't give a **** about conservative rhetoric when it comes to "tough on crime". They only care about the end result of crime rather than the more deeper rooted issues. Their only solution is a hammer(more incarceration) until what? Half our population is in prison?

Yes obviously this country needs more cops, more prisons etc when we only have a pathetic quarter of the world's prison population.

And conservatives wonder why they are labeled "fascist" erroneously in their minds. No there is a perfectly great reason to call that a fascist mindset. Fascism and "law and order" rhetoric goes hand in hand.

 

Exactly. Are we really trying to get to the root causes of crime, such as poverty and poor education, or are we content to just try to deal with the consequences of not dealing with those issues?
