It seems like they are trying to explore how one species' nature may or may not be able to change the nature of another species. So I think it's quality science fiction. Yet, I'm not sure they know what they want to say about it. Lord of the Flies tackled some of these types of issues I think when they essentially took parents out of the children's equation. What happens. Who do we become. Here it seems they are tackling a parent swap/creator swap between species.
That video had some pretty wild theories. Glad to hear someone else's take on the show. It's pretty deep...and I don't really like thinking to that level. I guess if I had to put my finger on it, I would liken Mother and Father to Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. The snakebaby is, well, the serpent in Eden. And that's all I got. I get the feeling that this series is more linked to Prometheus than the Alien series. Lots of creator-talk and evolution to go round.
I watched two more videos from the same guy. Great theories on his channel. Thanks. Now I will watch season 1 again. By the way, this season sort of gives me a Lost vibe. I just hope this show doesn't end like Lost, which is one of the biggest disappointments in TV history, IMO.
He certainly has some interesting theories. Never really watched Lost, I'm getting latter half Battlestar Galactica vibes with more hallucinogenics.
S2E5: Nothing but "HOLY F!" moments. So much happens in this episode...almost too much to soak up. Spoiler - Marcus and the weird glowing tooth Alien-esque xenomorph creature in the bone pit...WTF - Why does Mother torture the "glasses guy"...he's practically an ally of hers/athiests - The faceless android chick goes apeshit...WTF happened to her??? Why did she kill the hottest chick on the entire show (her 'mom') - Leeches, Paul, the sea creature thingie, Sue's hallucinations (btw...getting to see Sue almost in the buff was a plus!) - Father's creepy new android buddy and Tempest's baby MRI on its face - Mother and Father's growing animosity towards each other...something is going to happen...and probably soon
They are getting to the point where it is almost too much to follow and think about. They need to be careful. Dark went down this path. And that was excellent, but so mentally exhausting I doubt most people could follow it.
I highly recommend a re-watch of season one. Massive hints, foreshadowing and prophetic visions dropped.
Finally got caught up, there's lots to like about it but I would just like to add that Campion is one of the most annoying characters I've seen in a long time. Everything about him: his name, his face, the way he talks, what he says..all of it.
