No one is labeling Green as a bust, just that he is further away than folks like. If he is still further away in 2 more years than yeah....but now, it is just a disappointment that as a number 2 pick he was not as ready as advertised. DD
Yes and Lin bounced around several teams (including Houston) before finding his groove in a D'Antoni PnR offense while using Tyson Chandler and A'Mare Stoudamire. Carmelo had to take a leave of action in order for that to occur. Asik took a couple of years while in Chicago to develop....somewhat. Always had vice-grip hands. People are still waiting on Fultz, MCW.....only now is Wiggins putting out. Had to join the likes of Draymond Green, Klay. Curry and company.
No one? Not from where I'm sitting. Some (many) appear to be saying "Bust" Matter of perspective. No guarantees in life and none come with draft picks either. See Terrence Jones, Royce White, Jeremy Lamb, Fultz, MCW, Kawme Brown, Wiggins. etc
True, but we don't want to be the team that is drafting high picks and missing, otherwise what good is tanking anway, top 3 picks should be sure fire hits. DD
Must have selective memory loss "no one is labeling green a bust". We had folks btching about green calling him a bust way before all star week.
My point exactly. But don't say no one is calling it if u know for a fact that ain't tru. Thats all. Mobley mob folks been calling green a bust basically from the beginning
I am a certified Mobley should have been drafted guy, but will not label Green a bust, he is showing signs of being a good NBA player. I would still trade Green for Mobley... DD
Sorry if people disrespecting you DD Again there are no sure fire hits. Len Bias overdosed draft night. Zion gained too much weight for his base of support to maintain. Brandon Roy was bone on bone at the knees at a young age. Sam Bowie. Greg Oden Yao Ming lisfranc fractures happen at mid foot. Another base of support probably not holding up to the strain. There is such a thing as "sophomore slump" When players looked good originally but then faded. One hit wonders. Do we need to list those? What good is it to have a player look good one rookie season but poor the other 4 years? Last time I checked one rookie season was less time than the duration of the rest of the rookie contract of 4 years. Here are some in case you were wondering https://clutchpoints.com/top-6-nba-one-hit-wonders-who-faded-quickly/
Great post, most of those guys had major injuries though......it would be interesting to see someone that was good/decent early, didn't have any injury and just faded out of the league. DD
Good call, but didn't drugs derail him like Mitch Wiggens and Lew Lloyd and yes, John Lucas as well a the Birdman? DD
Banned in 19' and actually just recently reinstated. Had about a ten year career before that with his rookie and ninth year being his two best. Weird career. Wonder if someone picks him up this summer.
Green is going to eclipse the 32% 3pt mark soon and shooting much better than that recently. He takes a huge volume for a rookie 6.7 3pt attempts per game with lower overall usage than most top rookie counterparts. Shooting has been trending upwards almost all season. I think many are now starting to see what I said at the beginning of the season: he’s probably going to be a good to great shooter. Just keep polishing those shot mechanics. He’s also the leader or thereabouts among rookies (haven’t checked in a few weeks) in FTA+FTM+FT%, where he has made more than Evan Mobley who is also among the leaders. They both attempt 3.6 per game. Jalen hits 82% of his FT’s which is a great indicator. He really surprised me given his skinny frame that he’d be one of the best in his class at getting to the line and making them at a high %. This bodes really well for his future as he fills out that frame, tightens that handle a bit, gains more experience at the rim. Being top of your rookie class in all free throw categories is an amazing indicator of future success, go back and look at any draft. Those are the two most important offensive areas in the modern game, which is a big reason why I see a bright future for him there. Passing and defense are also important for his stats to translate to impact, but all I’ve seen from him on passing/defense is selflessness and lack of experience so it’s just easy to be optimistic given his alleged work ethic. I think the Jalen Green Experience finally takes off in a couple of games.
Really funny, I have been advocating for drafting an SF or PF with the really high pick in quite a while now. The franchise does not seem to value length and size. It would solve the issue with the 6'3s and 6'4s.
Reke could have easily been an All Star, I think he got into substances early. Wasted talent. OJ Mayo also did not develop well. Now they got Morant as compensation.
I wanted to talk about the coffin corner 3 and how both Green and KPJ are shooting 38% on those. Instead I'm hearing kumbuckets and self serving facials bets
