Except this is the opposite of what he actually did. He publicly and repeatedly praised Russia, it's dictator and it's military and intelligence operations publicly, disparaged that of the United States - while Commander-in-Chief! - and tried to withdraw from NATO. This all happened. I still can't believe it actually happened. And he's still doing it today.
The rapid change in his public persona is hard to miss -- his legacy is extremely important to him and it may be true that his time in power is coming to an end so he's taking a big risk to secure Mother Russia and his place in history.

I have no interest in defending a CIA installed dictatorship in Kiev from getting trampled on by the oligarchy in Moscow. Less than a year after the Afganistan fiasco and politicians from both sides are calling for another war.
So we gave Ukraine a bunch of weapons and soon they will belong to the Russian military. We like to give away military stuff to the enemy albeit indirectly. Such a waste.
