Y’all are dumb libtards . Trump would be in Russia right now blowing Putin to ensure that he was too occupied to invade the Ukraine.

The "vegetable" is you. Keep posting nonsense and it quickly won't be worth reading your posts at all. It's difficult to justify it now.

For you MAGA asshats who think Putin is a genius… Putin just in his own words just threatened THE UNITED STATES… (you idiots too) with nuclear bombs if we “act tough” and get involved.

You guys following Trump down this path is downright disgusting. It’s time to get your head out of your ass and realize Putin is not your friend. He wants to kill you. Stop drinking the Trump/Tucker cool aid.

Hopefully, the Ukranians are already thinking of ways to get people to deposit bombs into appropriate buildings in Moscow. Many people will be totally in favor of taking free stuff from the the dude next door that they can easily beat and mug, right up until doing so has direct personal consequence.

Russia is going to stomp, and then install Ukrainian separatists as the new pro-Russian gov't. Then they will leave vs annexing all of Ukraine. Putin has to know that an insurgency will make him look bad and weak.

The Chechens did just that but it didn't end up well for them.

The Ukrainians have no choice but to fight an asymmetric war but that doesn't mean it will work and it will be very costly for the Ukrainians.

This sucks. I'm in no mood to look at the sad division within the US. Putin's speech is again about restoring the old USSR. While NATO needs to stand still militarily, it's a declaration of war on Europe and the peace they have enjoyed. Everyone should be very uneased about that.

Putin is so threatened by these ex Soviet countries accepting Western culture, free speech, and democracy. it's humiliating to him. He fears being overthrown in his own country because there will come a time when his own people will rise up. He needs to dominate and control.

Yes they should but apparently partisanship trumps everything. Pun fully intended.

What's funny is the media doesn't take either route but instead (the MSM) correctly has blamed COVID.

They will stomp but more because of Ukraine military weakness than Russian power -- this roll out has shown clearly how far from the glory days their military has fallen. It's a huge force, but a strange mix of old and new tech scraped up from bases across the country. They just don't have the money to fully modernize and maintain the equipment and that's not even getting into the air force and navy. I'd love to be a fly on the wall to better understand why Putin would take such a risk with the majority of their ground forces -- if this somehow goes poorly they'll have 75% tied up with this war.

Watershed night for all of us. First European capitol to be attached since Berlin in 1945. I seriously doubt we here in the US will escape unaffected and unharmed. There are very few scenarios where NATO does not become a part of this. Ukraine will likely lose the initial battles, but Russia does not have the resources to fully and completely occupy such a large and populous country. It'll probably be an extended bloodbath.

In the meantime, I think we can finally say that yes, we squandered our end of the Cold War peace dividend on Iraq and other crap. Now, at an unlikely minimum, we're back to staffing NATO borders for quite some time. Look for things to happen in Poland and the Baltics over the next few months.

I just wish my kids could experience a few straight years of "normal."

This is why I think Putin has no interest in occupying or conquering Ukraine but rather destroying its political system and replacing it with a puppet gov't much has always been the Soviet model for satellite states.

I read a few books on WW1 and 2 during lockdown and this makes me real uneasy too. Scary times ahead. Damnit, if women ruled countries there wouldn't so much of this big balls macho dominate and kill mindset war crap. Men do commit 7 times more murders than women. Putin's one of those evil men.

Yes this is a big gamble. While the Russia and the PRC publicly are buddy buddy they still have active border disputes. Given that Putin moved many troops and gear from that border to Ukraine now would be a good time for the PRC to press its advantage.

My guess is part of Putin's meetings with Xi were to cut a deal that the PRC wouldn't take advantage of a situation like this with economic concessions and other deals.

The Russians though have other active conflicts and insurgencies both within and without of their borders. Now might be a good time for the Georgians, Dagestanis and what's left of the Chechens to start causing problems.
