I'd agree with this but our vets suck too. You could put Gordon, Wood, and Schroder on the starting lineup and we'd still lose games, so we might as well play the rookies. Stone really messed up by not trading Wood and Gordon because they take up minutes that could be going to our rookies. I don't even understand the point of playing Schroder at this point in the season when his minutes would be better spent developing guys like Nix and Christopher.
If this man approves of him starting, then he is doing a good job. This man is one of the hardest people to please. Trust me I've been reading his posts for awhile. DD just gave KPJ the thumbs up so we definitely start him. I think Shroeder will definitely show him how to push the pace.
Because the goal is to trade Dennis this off season in a sign and trade and get back younger players or picks
the same Dennis S. that had all the trouble in the world finding a multi year deal despite being 28. Is going to get you back picks or young players
He'll keep us firmly locked into the #3 pick (or maybe higher) all the while secretly developing Green's game. Then we jettison him for another player or pick.
NOTHING is obvious with the tilman brain trust involved, even if it makes perfect sense to the entire basketball community. The 10-18 year old tiktok community is running our drafting department for crying out loud.
The likely scenario is what others said. KPJ probably still start with Dennis on 2nd unit. The casualty is that Christopher's minutes is cut and Nix call up might be delayed. There's what we think the Rockets will do: KPJ and Dennis. Versus what general fans want Rockets will do (KPJ/Josh, a dash of Daishen). Then my personal bias is, JC and Nix at the guards (less KPJ and Dennis... which is less likely). I'm not a big a Dennis guy, but if playing devil's advocate, some other angles at this: 1) If for whatever reason, Rockets coaching staff feels like they're not getting what they want out of KPJ. Or they really want KPJ to push to another gear to show them what he has.... since it might not be enough for a big extension. Having an established guard playing right behind you could do that. The pressure is slight and artificial, still pressure nonetheless. 2) Might give Stone a tiny leverage in maybe low balling KPJ on his extension. I don't think Stone can get away with a Hinkie special, but maybe the number could be more realistic. I sincerely hope Rockets don't overpay for KPJ. The contract has to be attractive enough, where it's still tradable (positive asset) and not be stuck. Rockets is still in rebuild, org is looking at the draft, should still very much keep options open. 3) At this point in their career, as inconsistent as Dennis is, he's a better point guard than KPJ. If it is by skill and ability, Dennis would be starting. This is not me worshipping Dennis, I think he's an average serviceable guard in the league, more that if you rank KPJ against other starting PG in the league, KPJ is bottom five (at least right now). Dennis' prototype is a scoring guard, but his passing and getting people into positions, setting the table is still better. The fact that Dennis is a better player, especially on this bottom Rockets team, makes it very tempting for Silas to milk the German. Especially in bad stretches. Even if Dennis is here for less than half a season, I can see Silas relying on him. GMs likes tanking, but Silas is trying to win (some) games. Again I don't see them starting Schroder over KPJ, but he's getting playing time. 4) On Schroder's good days, like that Sun's game, guys like Green, KJ, and Sengun, all looked sharp. Someone to direct traffic. And when you see it, you're reminded what a PG (albeit average) is supposed to look like. Developing too many young guys at the same time, may be a detriment. If Dennis can speed the growth of a Green, a KJ or a Sengun, at the expense of a KPJ, you should definitely consider it. 5) He's a vocal player on the floor. Something we sorely miss. One big flaw on the young team, I'm including Wood here, guys get lost defensively. Dennis just came from a team with a defensive coach like Udoka. That's still fresh. The hope is Dennis will influence a bad Rockets defensive team, and not the other way around.
The Rockets have a dearth of young players and will have no problems finding PT for the player(s) they get back in a SnT (plus the two 2022 draftees).
The Rockets should set Schröder free and let him sign with a playoff team ... if he can ... noting that a playoff team, the Celtics, has essentially already kicked him to the curb,
I would like to see KPJ play off the ball with a good point guard for a lil bit... It would help KPJ understand the game from a wing's POV. If he excels in limited minutes at it, he'll be able to coach Green and next year's SF on what he expects when he's the primary ballhandler... Not gonna happen but it's a good thoughr
What a bunch of MORONS running this team. Why keep Gordon??? Why pickup Schroder and waste time playing him, only to help his offseason value where there is zero chance he returns (see K Olynick) the better he plays. We’re tanking, so why nof check out this Nix kid? We were likely offered Porzingus for Wood & Gordon and turned it down. Why waste time with rental Scroder when we have John Wall just rotting away for 47 million a year? Meanwhile at the home office we made a beautiful hire of the former Memphis GM who was roundly criticized for horrible draft errors with the Grizzlies (eventually fired) and his first combined pick with our genius GM is to pass on the next Tim Duncan. If this team would have just been sold to Matress Mack we would be sooooo much better!
Kpj best player on this team yall hilarious He's a decent NBA role player Hello EGO CWood Tate Segun even JG All are better rn as far as impact on the tank & dnt need to be babysat or coddled. Them box scores be having ppl delusional
We go back to watching a PG lose his mind whenever he gets inside the 3 point line and pick up his dribble with no idea what he's about to do next. Fun stuff really.
Maybe somebody with a little more knowledge can clear this up, but I don’t think the Rockets own Schroder’s bird rights. I thought that meant that since they will be over the cap, they don’t have the ability to sign him at all, whether they want to keep him themselves or through a SnT.
Bird rights don't apply to Schroder and he'll be a UFA in a little over a month. tbh the post you replied to was pretty much random and more of a troll than anything
