I think I read somewhere that they exchanged the nukes for control over Crimea, which would be ironic.
Trump doesn't have any filter. He respects and loves wonderful propaganda from the very best propagandist. Declaring independence and going in there as "peacekeepers". He likes that very much and because he does similar things, understands it well. He thinks it's great and very effective. And it is effective to Putin's devoted fans and Russian who have been living under his propaganda for years. He doesn't think about how his image is viewed by Americans for saying stuff like this, because again, he doesn't have any filter.
In a politically recognized way - by other nations - they don't have the Crimea, but may possibly get it if they let Donbuss be Ukranian on mutually acceptable terms. At this point when the situation is escalated to the max, such an outcome would be great. But got to wait for Putin to calm down a bit now that he ranted and saber rattled.. US, rightly so, shut down diplomacy for now. One can only hope.
https://www.cnn.com/2022/02/22/politics/mitt-romney-russia-ukraine/index.html It's time to admit it: Mitt Romney was right about Russia Analysis by Chris Cillizza, CNN Editor-at-large Updated 3:42 PM ET, Tue February 22, 2022 (CNN)A decade ago, Mitt Romney went on CNN and made a statement that was widely perceived as a major mistake. "Russia, this is, without question, our number one geopolitical foe," Romney, who would be the Republican presidential nominee in the 2012 race against President Barack Obama, told Wolf Blitzer in March of that year. "They — they fight every cause for the world's worst actors." Obama and his team pounced on the comment, insisting that it showed Romney was hopelessly out of touch when it came to the threats facing the US. In the third presidential debate between the two candidates in October 2012, Obama went directly after Romney for that remark. "When you were asked, 'What's the biggest geopolitical threat facing America,' you said 'Russia.' Not al Qaeda; you said Russia," Obama said. "And, the 1980s are now calling to ask for their foreign policy back, because the Cold War's been over for 20 years." more at the link
This is so stupid. People on both sides of the isle have been “admitting it” since 2014. This comment from Romney was two years prior to Putin taking Crimea and holding a sham election. At the time it was laughable to think Putin would be insane enough to actually try to invade his way into trying to reform the USSR by force. I sure as hell didn’t think it was possible. At the time the threats were way higher in the Middle East. This guy at CNN continues to be the Brian Windhorst of political journalism.
Isn't that most imperialistic countries gained power throughout history? The West has to bring in serve economic sanctions on Russia. Strategic and effective sanctions.
Don't trust CNN they are biased left wing media. Am I right? Funny how people on the right dismiss media when it goes against them. But I have no problem posting articles to fit their narrative.
