One of our good friends here is an orthopedic surgeon for the VA. We've had a number of conversations.

Good luck, @bobrek. I'll be replacing my knees sometime in the not too distant future. Probably hip at some point, too. 40+ years of soccer will do that. Guess it could be worse. I play with a guy who's 10 years younger than me and is already scheduled to get his knee replaced.

A lot of my high school football playing friends have had knee replacements and surgeries. Glad I played basketball.

Pretty sure 4+ years of a lot of intense running led to mine. According to the surgeon, my right hip should last the rest of my life.

Best of luck Bobrek. I figure I'll get my hip(s) replaced somepoint. Every Judoka I know in their 60's has had their hips replaced.

I'm not sure @bobrek qualifies as "hip"

Wow, I didn't figure we would hear from you for days! Glad it went well, and I know you're probably still loopy so I need some money sent to my PayPal, Cash App or Venmo when you have a minute.

Surprisingly I have been incredibly lucid since I came to. The nurses have all been impressed.

I'm 40ish and have already started having hip/back problems. Honestly, I think it's more the hip that are causing the back problems, but I'm not 100% sure. I've also run several marathons and played soccer nonstop throughout my childhood.

I took it slow for a couple months and even 8 weeks of physical therapy. The therapy was mainly geared towards strengthening my core. I'm honestly not sure if any of the stretches really did much in terms of targeting the root of the problem. The idea being that a stronger core will help to limit the exertion on whatever is causing the problems.

I Started slowly running again with just mild pain for several weeks. Felt the beginning of a relapse and rested again for a few more weeks. Now, I'm going to try to start up slow again in March. Long story short, I'm probably headed in your same direction, but maybe even at a younger age. :) I hope you're surgery and recovery are successful and swift!
