This is already the start of a soft invasion. Sanctions should be enacted now.

I've never heard the term "soft invasion" before. The more you know.

Setting aside that Biden is a bigger enemy to you than Putin, what do you want the US gov't to do now?

Now or later - it won't make a difference. Putin's course has been determined since 2014 or earlier.

There is no such thing as a soft invasion this is Hitler all over again, you give him anything he is going to take more........Crimea was given away without any real action - in fact he got the Olympics and the World cup.....yeah, he is gonna just do what he wants.

It is now up to us to decide is it worth going to war over.......

I am not in favor of war, but I am in favor of assassinating Putin if it can be done covertly without anyone taking credit....ala Israeli style.

lmao starts with the hard words and then says he doesn’t want to go to war.

    Yea, neither does anyone else.

Nobody wants to see Ukraine lose its independence but preserving Ukraines independence isn’t our responsibility.

File it under “another thing in the world that sucks.” - We aren’t here to make sure nothing bad ever happens to anyone in the world ever.

I agree but if the US military didn't save everyone's asses Hitler and Japan would rule the world by now.

We don't need to get involved in Russian/Ukraine affairs. This is a distraction that Biden and Harris are pushing ala wag the dog.

There will be no war and after mounting tensions and making people scared of the possible war, the admin can take credit because they desperately need a foreign affairs win with mid-terms near and the fact that so far they don't have a lot of feathers in their cap for their own reelection.

He will bark at Putin and if Putin blinks he'll claim victory. If Putin invades, oh well, the Dems are screwed in the next few elections because they burned the most precious capital: voter trust. He'll say something like oh it would be another Afghanistan and then he'll argue with sock puppets in the opposition who will war hawk in order to make Joe look like the good guy who is sane and rational as he bows solemnly in reverence and keeps peace.

How can you take the crypt keeper seriously at this point?

I watched his national defense advisors meeting - it was surreal. He made each and every one of his politically significant ministers to be on national tv for supporting the recognition of the Russian backed separatist regions.

And after that he had another hour + presentation he did to announce the decision to Russian public.

Looked agitated/emotional both times. Hopefully that means he doesn't have the gall to take more than what they already have.

And it was confirmed by some important Minister named Klimov that the recognition of the separatists only applies to Currently occupied land, which means unless they use another false flag attack, the situation hopefully de-escalates soon from military perspective. The statements coming from Russia's ministers seem to proclaim that they want to "stop the bloodshed".

The public is not that dumb and can figure out eventually who is the real cause of any potential bloodshed is in the long term, so I think they are leaning towards stopping at this and just bearing the smaller packet of sanctions coming from the west - saving their face and perhaps also cooling the Ukraine's ambition to retake Crimea
