It’s the Kobe comparison when nothing has been comparable with their games other than the fact that they are both shooting guards. I’m hopeful with Green too but at least pick a player that his game matches up with.
I'm genuinely, sincerely struggling for what more to tell you. I see in Green the "it" that Kobe had, and I believe his impact will be similar to Kobe's (individual impact). I know they have different technical skills, I'm not talking about that. Maybe you're looking at it as a technical comparison. Think of it more like trajectory and vibrance. I totally understand why you might not see it. A star in the wrong place never ever looks like a star. I don't know how to explain this to you except to say: if you saw Snoop Dogg working at a McDonald's, you would never have believed that dude would be a star. Only he knew. But that stuff happens all the time. I know that if you put Michael Jordan in a Klay Thompson role, he will not be a good Jordan or a good Thompson. Green has to do this painful work even though it's like pulling teeth. Catch and shoot 3's, off ball movement, defense. If you're his mentor, you know that this path will both make him look ultra bad early and will be best for his future. You do it as long as you feel the kid's confidence won't be easily hurt by others showing out. We've been lucky with Green, he's shown impeccable character thus far. If it's working, what you will see is rapid development vs other rookies. I see that. Frankly, I have not seen any evidence - PR or legit - that there's another rookie in this class who has the combination: regularly works as hard as Green while having the same amount of natural talent. No one can convince me otherwise in the absence of that. Until I see another rookie with several reports of them working hard like a Kobe or Durant or Jordan, then only Green can change my mind.
That is amidst things he was implying. He is not put into a good situation where the owner is willing to spend, the GM is at the full frontier of what is going on, the coach is a genius with a great playbook. He is great at the new millenial things - NFT, metro and pansexuality, probably even catering to the LGBT community. But he needs to understand that player that combine the new (spacing, transition, positionless ball and 3s) with old school D, old school fundamentals have the most success. I do wish him luck, he just thinks the world is his 'oyster' but the world is cruel and you have to take it.
Don’t think he will ever be All-NBA but I do think him & KPJ can be a top 3 backcourt within the next 5 years
Says it all. If you can’t see Kobe in Green then I don’t know what to tell you, YOU are the crazy one. Our LGBT superstar.
When it rains, it pours. I see no ROY or even top 10 ROY talks for this kid. If I was the coaching staff, I would sit this kid down about his immaturity and tell him to man up (doubt this happens.)
What’s immature? He’s enjoying his vacation. Is he doing anything illegal? James Harden went to strip clubs during the playoffs.
Exactly. Half of these posters would have been waving around 10 20 dollar bills, at his age, if they had it. Going to the strip club and making it hail.
