So you want to compare what an Asian American makes to the US average? Not to what similar occupations an immigrant might be in??? That's your definition of far treatment? Ridiculous. To say that an immigrant engineer is treated fairly if they make more than the average person in America is just absolutely nonsense.

Do you feel that Chinese nationalists and patriots should be offended that Nathan Chen is competing for the US? It seems you have something in common with them, right?

Are you serious? He's American, born and bred. No, I don't have anything in common with anyone offended by him representing his country as a US citizen.

Actually, nobody is treated more unfairly than women when it comes to pay. I'm not sure of the current figures, but more than 55 million full-time working women earned an estimated $545.7 billion less than their male counterparts in 2019.

Not disputing that at all but we were on the topic of how immigrants are treated.

Well your topic has strayed from this thread topic. Maybe you could start a thread on how immigrants are treated. Better yet, just post it under any GOP, Abbott, or Cruz thread.

It's germane to a discussion around nationalism given the claim that America "provides" so much opportunity to immigrants.

Yet we would have done back flips for YAO to represent America
Did not see much debate on Hakeem in 1996

That **** illustrates the plight of blacks and police perfectly.

It almost seemed like an SNL skit.

That **** would be funny if it was not so scary.

Hakeem played of U of H in the 80's. I had no problem with him becoming a US citizen. Don't care about YAO's choice really. He isn't a US citizen, and if he wanted to represent China that's fine with me.

So if Gu went to college in China, you'd be ok with her representing China? That's the issue?

If she became a Chinese citizen, sure. I could care less if she chooses to be Chinese citizen and give up her US citizenship. If she wants to live in a communist country she's foolish, but that's my opinion. Anyway, I'm done debating this with you. It's like beating a dead horse at this point.

You say if she became a Chinese citizen, you'd be ok with her competing. But she IS a Chinese citizen, she has to be to compete for China. They may have made a special exemption for her to keep her US citizenship as well.

I am just trying to get you to see the holes in your argument. Judging from your other posts, you seem hostile because I don't agree with you.

Normalized by reasonable variables and see if there is a disparate impact.

I e. build statistical model with some high level variables such as education, current age, current years in workforce, and current location.

    Target variable is current income.

Then build a separate model but now add race and gender into the input variables. Look at the delta between the two models, if race and gender variables create statically significant splits, then you know there's disparate treatments.

Based on the bold it doesn't seem like you've looked that far into this.

Way off topic now, but if anyone cares to dig into this, women work fewer hours and choose less lucrative careers. The pay gap, when controlled for these factors, basically disappears (fewer than 2%).
