I agree that Shaq was Alpha on the Lakers squads with Kobe. But Kobe got 2 rings as alpha without Shaq. Shaq won without Kobe as Wade’s #2. Gasol is the one that doesn’t fit. He was never an alpha and didn’t sniff that level of competition in June without Kobe. He was ALWAYS a clear Robin. And Props to him for excepting his role as a #2.
I didn't care that Jalen failed spectacularly in the dunk contest but he's only bringing the heat on himself when he keeps saying stuff like "I'm gonna win the contest" or "I'm going to win ROY" then backing it up with nothing. He's the most hated Rookie in the draft class for a reason. NBA fans hate players that can't back up their words.

This is definitely true. Jalen Green hasn’t done anything noteworthy for other fanbases to care about him, while Rockets fans are forced to watch him every game with the weight and expectations of the #2 pick, which he makes a mockery of every time he steps on the court, so no wonder the “hate” he gets.

You are pretending Green is the first rookie to come in and need to gain weight, tighten up his handle, etc. That happens all the time even with players who turned out great so you're point dies right there. Harden, a player who we all watched for years, had alot to work on his first year and every new season improved and had new things he added to his arsenal. Did he not have offseasons in AAU, high school or in college? Did none of the other countless players who added weight/improved their games after coming to the league? You either don't watch basketball or you're being willfully ignorant because you don't like Green or wish we took Mobley or whatever other asinine reason you have to write off a rookie who has clearly improved and shown flashes.
Green just doesn’t have an alpha personality. It’s who he is. Gotta have that to be a leader in the NBA. He’ll always be a second or third option type of player which is fine for a bit lower in the lottery.

Rookie rules to live by: Don’t tell everyone you should have gone #1 and then suck. don’t tell everyone you are going to win rookie of the year and then suck when you play Detroit, don’t get all in Cade’s face and act immature/celebrate when you make a shot like the game is about you and him. don’t enter the dunk contest and then suck.
Looking at the #2 picks from 1980 to 2010, I'd say these five players were legitimate superstar-level guys that were or could have been a key components on a championship contender: - Kevin Durant - Jason Kidd - Gary Payton - Isaiah Thomas - Alonzo Mourning The players below had great careers and I'd say were good enough to play a major role on a championship team. Still, they would fall short of being a "superstar" and looking back should not have not been a definite #2 pick in my book. - LaMarcus Aldridge - Tyson Chandler - Mike Bibby - Antonio McDyess (though more of an injury issue) - Rick Smits - Marcus Camby Other picks would be seen as outright misses for me. Though it's probably too early to call for some of the recent picks, outside of Morant.
Mobley's floor was always very high and that's what we are seeing early in his NBA career. Green had a lower floor (seeing that now) but potentially a HIGHER ceiling do to being an on ball scorer/creator and the tip of the spear of a championship team. That ceiling won't be achieved until years down the road (if it ever does). BUT, we know Green has the tools to work on his game to potentially reach that ceiling AND Green has the competitive spirit/fire to want to make it work. We are going to need patience with Green.
Respect you as a poster @Deuce but did you really believe Mobley was the more ready NBA player vs Green pre-draft? And I wholeheartedly agree, need to be patient with Green. Green is going to need a few years before we see anywhere near a finished product. He needs to work on his body, his handles and expand his bag.
