Up to DoJ now. You would think the DoJ will investigate it as thoroughly as they did with sensitive material on Clinton's private email server. Trump updated his statement. Before, he was attacking reporters for false and politically motivated statements. Now that it's official, he said the achieves did not find anything and something about hoax and being a massive victim. Tuning his supporters to deny reality. National Achieves also confirmed the media reporting that Trump officials used private devices for official businesses and that Trump has torn up Presidential records. Material Recovered From Trump by Archives Included Classified Information WASHINGTON — The National Archives confirmed on Friday that it had found classified information among material that President Donald J. Trump had taken with him to his home in Florida when he left office last year and that it had consulted with the Justice Department about the matter. The agency “has identified items marked as classified national security information within the boxes,” according to a letter posted on the National Archives and Record Administration’s website. Last month, the archives retrieved 15 boxes that Mr. Trump took with him to his Mar-a-Lago home from the White House residence when his term ended. The boxes included material subject to the Presidential Records Act, which requires that all documents and records pertaining to official business be turned over to the archives. The items in the boxes included documents, mementos, gifts and letters. The archives did not describe the classified material it found other than to say that it was “classified national security information.” Response to 02.09.2022 Maloney Letter.final_Signed.docx (archives.gov) "NARA has identified items marked as classified national security information within the boxes." "NARA has also learned that some White House staff conducted official business using non-official electronic messaging accounts that were not copied or forwarded into their official electronic messaging accounts, as required by section 2209 of the PRA." "After the end of the Trump Administration, NARA learned that additional paper records that had been torn up by former President Trump were included in the records transferred to us. Although White House staff during the Trump Administration recovered and taped together some of the torn-up records, a number of other torn-up records that were transferred had not been reconstructed by the White House."
Sadly, perhaps politically. Victimhood has been a great defensive and offensive strategy. Doubtful though. This is about the law, for those that care about it anyway. I know, some people think higher up shouldn't face the consequences of breaking the law. And I'm pretty sure most of today's Republicans already don't care. It's really up to Independent and lean-either side. I like to think they still do care.
Agree and that means fewer and fewer people. For going-on 30 years now, conservative media has brewed distrust not just in "government" but in expertise and society itself. That has consequences, even though people like Roger Ailes and Rush Limbaugh made a ****-ton of money. Laws (like currency and other societal standards) only work if you have automatic buy-in. "That might be your vaccine, but not mine." "That might be your election result, but not mine." "That might be your stop sign, but not mine." Okay, let's see how this works out for America. That's the main reason I can't have any optimism, even while I think you always have to have some hope.
Something something Crooked Hillary! Some something Lock her up! Something something Drain The Swamp! Something something RINO RINO RINO
Indies will care less when Hilary or some crooked decrepit old Dem like Schumer rear their ugly heads and make both two parties hard to swallow
Now Trump says she should get the death penalty. I guess Lock Her Up wasn't radical enough. My how that party has gotten evil with Traitor Trump as their voice.
For the crime of being Hillary. Don't expect truthfulness from these folks. Don't expect logical consistency. Expect unapologetic hypocrisy. Expect ... Jewish Space Lasers.
In response to the Durham report he wrote this about Clintin "spying": “In a stronger period of time in our country, this crime would have been punishable by death,”
I don't think there's any probably in there. He says stuff to stir up hate and violence. He flat out lies to get what he wants, and has done it for decades. He started a coup. I could go on and on but here's what he said ... Trump said in court he had no 'knowledge' of his company's finances a day before he issued an 1,100-word statement defending his company's finances Trump waxed lyrical about his company's "fantastic assets" and said prosecutors should consider giving Hillary Clinton the death penalty instead of investigating the Trump Organization's finances. https://www.businessinsider.in/inte...is-companys-finances/articleshow/89646179.cms He's spouts off horrible stuff, lies, and propaganda meant to incite anger and fear. Then, he sits back and watches his cult take action on those he fears or despises. He's a sick, twisted, and dangerous man who would do anything for power or fame.
I doubt any legal action is taken on this. The Hillary Clinton email thing was investigated by the FBI, but they didn't indict because no criminal intent was found. Comey said she was careless. And a bunch of other high officials were similarly careless with classified documents by sending with private email -- in Trump's White House, Obama's, Bush's, and probably before that. Probably happens in the Biden White House too. And I actually wish they would do something to curb this misbehavior, but they haven't and probably won't. Trump's case isn't different, except perhaps he had paper records instead of electronic ones. If they can prove he had criminal intent, mishandling classified documents is probably just one of the ancillary charges you hit him with while you prosecute the main crime.
Two differences. At least known to us - thus the need for a full investigation by the DoJ. NARA reached out to the WH about Trump tearing up papers and said hey, it’s the law, stop doing it. It continues. Torn up pieces were in the boxes they retrieved. NARA noticed missing items and reached out to Trump's lawyer in May of 2021. It took a threat to alert Congress and DoJ. 8 months of blockage. Beside that, Trump known well the Clinton case and the carelessness of handling classified material. If Clinton has repeated the offense again , she should be prosecuted. It's beyond carelessness. It's indifferences to the law, at best.
Old Bill Clinton staffer walked out with classified info but was later cleared because "he didn't intend to do it, oopsie." Proving intent in white collar crimes is insanely difficult to convict the higher you go up the ladder
Meh, doesn't matter. At this point there could be a video of Trump molesting children and a) he wouldn't get in any trouble and b) he will still get the 2024 presidential nomination and a good chunk of votes.
