What I'm saying, anti-Green folks ain't going to be convinced by anything. The guy could be destroying the league for two years straight and you will be saying it's a fluke.....he is going to revert back to "himself" anytime soon Negative Nancies got to be negative
Why bother? That dude is pathetic. He probably has a poster of Evan Mobley hung up on the ceiling above his bed.
There’s still plenty of time for Green to get himself on an efficiency trajectory to become an all-star by the end of his rookie deal. I understand the concern in stunting his development by not running the whole offense through him, but I think I prefer the option of a.) keeping him limited in contributions yet with a TS% close to 60 in the past month, while Wood keeps the team in the top three running for a draft pick; versus b.) Green’s usage is at 30+ but his efficiency sucks, and we still suck; or even c.) somehow we’re good, Green helps make us good a la Mobley or Barnes, and we thus don’t have the ability to get a top 3 draft pick in 2022. Everything I’m seeing from Green of late still tells me he has the ability to score 30ppg one year on good efficiency. Best case scenario is that he keeps this up, has an Anthony Edwards type second half, and we continue to tank in order to get Chet or Jabari paired with him and Sengun in 2023. Next year should be the first year we try hard to instill a winning culture on the team.
well we had a couple of such players few years back and went nowhere with them.... what if you draft another zion or another andrew wiggins?...pro tank people are so naive... but good for them for being able to enjoy losing....what more you need in life when wins and losses are all the same to you? lololol
Where he outshined every single young player in the league, who were also playing in exhibition games. What's your point?
Cade and Mobley. Top ranked rookies Senguen. Most creative, valuable. Wagner. A surprisingly good do it all big Okoro and Tate are top sophomores. Edwards was half assing, Lamelo uh okay. Team IS did well without major names.
the thing is, that Green maybe profits the most from playing against half assed defense. His biggest strength is driving past his defender - when no serious help defense comes he will score. In normal Games there is a serious help defender… still Green definitely has the most potential as a scorer out of all the rookies. He can create his own shot anytime anywhere against any defender - potentially. He is not there yet but he has the most tools for that. And to me, that is the most valuable thing for a player (together with being a driven leader that inspires others to do their best on the court). Let’s hope he gets there, there Jury is still out.
It is very funny to read people who think that by losing games a couple of seasons the Rockers will create a "losing culture" or by winning a couple of games our players will automatically become winners. Championships are the only thing that create winning teams and winning franchises, simple as that. I think all of us who enjoy Hakemm or Rudy T can understand it. Or are the Jazz of the 90's remembered for having a winning culture? Or the Sonics of Payton and Kemp? Or can we say that Harden left a winning legacy on the Rockets? I'm not saying that those teams have failed, I'm saying that to talk about "winning culture" you have to win championships, and if getting high draft picks opens the way to that possibility ... welcome. Is it a safe way? Of course not! But what is safe in this game? "...nothing is certain except death and taxes"
Can’t say I follow your argument. You can absolutely develop a losing culture, but just because you don’t have a losing culture doesn’t mean you will win a championship. Let’s put it a different way — did the Jazz of the 90s have a losing culture? Of course not.
No one should worry about our culture. Don't y'all remember when Tildo said that once the team starts to take on his personality that we'll crush throats and win games? So we already have a plan to establish the best culture.
You go around without arguing based on what my message says and you avoid answering by formulating a new question. Again, the Jazz of the 90s are remembered for their winning culture? I do not think so. The first problem is that you are thinking in binary terms. The second problem is knowing what you mean by "winning culture" and "losing culture." I repeat, not having a couple of campaigns with a terrible record will necessarily develop a losing culture, nor will you develop a winning culture by winning some games. And in the middle of both concepts there are a lot of stadiums where a multiplicity of variants approach or distance the teams from those extremes. Greetings!
IMO it comes from the top. If your owner is cheap, does not have any vision and your GM is not real sharp, then possibilities are that you have a losing side for a decade or even worse a mediocre side.
My best guess as of now is Green ends up around where Zach Lavine is. I think Green will be a better passer though. I'd trade Green for Mobley but not Barnes or Giddy. I'm optimistic that Green ends up the player that can generate the best overall shot for themselves or a teammate when it counts. There are a number of things that have hurt him though and he needs to address them over the next 8 months to have an impactful sophmore year. 1. Off ball and transition defense. 2. Improving his shooting form. 3. Playing strength.
Tbh I am not sure what Lavine is. He is finally having a good team with the Bulls and might get better. I see Lonzo getting better and Derozan keep playing at a high level. It is the fit and surrounding that gives the extra boost.
Zach is a 3rd option. He has a cookie cutter basic game. He prefers to defer until forced to shoot open or drive on wide lanes. Green needs to stop being this passive/ Like Kobe would say, he plays like a lighskin
Green playing well has zero to do with whether he faces lax defense or not. He's on one of those hot streaks from 3 again, when he can just swish 4-5 3's again he just gets easy 20 points no matter what. It's when his 3's don't fall his game becomes so ugly
