He’s perfectly playing his role in an absolute machine. Getting buckets. There are better do it all players in the league, but not too many that can score like he does. Not much of a triple double threat, but pitches in with some rebounds and assists as needed. The blueprint is there. We are seeing it in real time with the Suns. They made a Finals last year and probably only the Warriors stand in their way this year.
You’re wasting your time. The Jaylen Green haters or Mobley fan only guys, will never admit any kind of progression from Green. Even older guys like DD have no patience for him. I guess they can’t overcome that 19 year olds develop at difference speeds and that their pre-draft analysis could be flawed. Or maybe they don’t like his looks. I don’t know what causes adults to hate so hard on the internet.
I was reading that Kyrie saw Baron Davis dribble the ball after putting it in a plastic bag and that's how he improved his dribble. I'm taking it to the next level and after the ball is in a bag spray it with some PAM cooking spray. His defense has improved but it’s nowhere remotely close to really great. He makes plays like that one linked that make you think there’s potential to improve but on the whole his defense is still very bad. Coaching may be part of why he falls asleep so often on rotations and help though.
Mobley completely owns ROY. But I'm really impressed with Franz scoring. Also interesting Alvarado and Kuminga WS are just as good as Mobley. And Dosunmu is the biggest surprise of the draft. But its Herb Jones that fills me with most regret. I knew he was going to be good but did not know he would be this good this fast.
Exactly. Go back and watch yesterday's defense. @DaDakota inspired me to do so last night. Does Green miss some rotations? Sure. Is tius unique among the Rockets? No. I mean, might be anecdotal, but watch some Josh Christopher or Schroders Cat defense if you want to see guys who literally have no clue where they were supposed to be yesterday. They are the worst defensive unit in the league for reasons that go way beyond a late switch. It generally starts with two absolute disaster, non rim protecting big men who have no ability to defend switches or seemingly recover into the paint whatsoever - @DreamShook noted yesterday in the game thread. That basically blows up the whole thing before it starts and why the Rockets Paint points - even when they play 2 bigs, look so bad. At that point all you can look at is effort and ability to stay in front of his man, which he seems to have gotten much better at over time. Those highlight clips people post aren't a fluke, they didn't exist in December. And lot aren't blocks or steals, it's just "don't give up penetration and contest the shot" - and that's fine. It doesn't show in the scoreboard because the Rockets are so bad overall, but it's kind of all you can ask for. One play from last night stood out, Jalen came over as a help defender on a big at the rim and got a hand on the ball, which promptly bounced right to LAC. Green then flew towards the shooter to try to close him out, got up a contest, but of course its a made 3. Terrible result, but good defense, and the effort level is high now, even when down 20+ in the second half.
Franz reminds me of an Iguodala, Tayshaun, Kirilenko level player. Ultimate glue guy and can be a good Robin or third wheel to a title contender
