Why I am still really high on Green and would still take him over any other rookie not named Mobley, Cade or Giddey is: I believe the things that are lacking are things that he can and probably will learn. Stuff like rebounding, passing and defense (including defensive awareness) are all things he should be at least mediocre at eventually. But I do believe he can be the best scorer of the bunch - and maybe one of the best of the league. And he seems to be clutch. The thing is: I am pretty sure most of the other top 10 rookies will be good to great. I am not sure about Green.
Dude, no need to play clever here. I am not that dude you need to go against, I have been adamant about continuing playing Green and raising his value. But at the same time there is huge room for criticism. The work does not make you a real player but applying that to the adequate places, real games. While he scored 21, he had 0 rebounds, only 1 to 2 assists.
Mathloom! Maybe my most favorite read now on the garm! I both appreciate and envy the way you articulate your positions. I enjoy a lot of the posters here. Always have, regardless of if I agree or disagree with them. I have especially enjoyed a lot your posts lately and the way you position your views.
I am not harsher on Jalen lol, if you followed me, you would know that I am a Harden and Kobe critic lol, it just seems to be that way because you are acting like a teenage groupie about a grown 20 yr old individual which is jarring. You need to get into your head what the Rockets need, the Rockets are in dire need of a Triple threat, in the backcourt or at the Small forward position. No matter how hard Jalen trains, he is not that. May it be Jaden Ivey or some other guy trots along, the Rockets are not going to make big strides. Obviously Green does not have elite length and his height is the topic of debate. While he could bulk up, he is not a natural, he cannot broaden his shoulders or extend his arm length for example, until there is some surgery I need to know of. He does not display the craftiness or immense creativity of Alperen Sengün who was a 16th pick. They complement each other well because Alperen is not an elite athlete. I do FAVOR Sengün and Christopher, that is true, I can admit it. ANTHONY EDWARDS also an example of great strength.. Basketball is more concentrated on physicality while soccer has been been getting there in physical contact especially in the Premier league and the British leagues. I do like soccer more than bball so I am mostly there so being hard on Jalen is just a mini plight.
One obstacle at a time my friend. Let’s get the kid to keep shooting the ball - let the scoring come to keep his confidence high. Defense, Rebounding and assists are the next steps to advancing his game.
As a fellow CF member I wish you the best on your hard working journey. I would not compare myself to Green though, that is reaching but again good for you. You probably would not have the haters Green shall face, it is part of his job.
You are without question requiring Jalen to do things that you are not requiring of others. That’s evident in the posts in our history. I track the logic so this jumping back and forth between your points is pointless. Your point: Green is the only one with a sneaky lying PR company, so he can’t be the hardest worker in his class despite eye witness and first hand accounts. you’re being totally fair, huh I’m not feeling that you’re being sincere in these discussions tbh. Thanks for the chat, this will be my last reply for a while.
I wouldn’t know if I have haters, there’s no social media in my lab. My inspiration is infinite, doesn’t require others hatred as fuel.
Another decent Green game. Another chance for Rockets fans to be at each other's throats in this awful thread. Don't you guys on both sides get sick of making the same points over and over and over again? Bottom line: Yes, Green is behind many of his rookie peers, and he had an absolute atrocious January. But he also (knock on wood) seems to be turning it around a bit and playing better in February. So far this month: 16.5 points, 2.8 assists, 2.1 rebounds, 1 steal per game on 46.4%/41.2%/75% shooting splits Hopefully he can keep it up after the All-Star break and push his percentages and advanced stats to a respectable level by season's end. I can't predict that, but I can predict several more weeks of people making the same tired points again after every Jalen Green performance. We should lock this thread, set it on fire and watch it burn at this point.
Green didn’t get to the line or get a single rebound in a team high 31 minutes last night. He also had the 2nd worse +/- on the team and only had 2 assists too. That’s not ideal. His overall game still needs a LOT of work, but he has all the potential in the world. I hope this coaching staff can develop him, but that remains to be seen.
+/- is a rubbish stat as it relies on the other 4 players on the court as well, and also they wouldn't even give Jalen the ball in the first quarter. He had 2 points in the first and 2 shots. He won't get countering numbers until he has more usage
This is true. Kobe & Jalen Green first 43 games at age 19: *( Kobe already had 1yr in NBA) FGA....FG%...3P%..3PA....FT%...FTA...Reb...ast...stl...blk....pts.. 12.9....45.1....36.6.....3.0.....77.9....6.4.....3.3....2.3...1.1...0.4...17.7 (Kobe 43 gms) 12.6....36.7....31.1.....6.3.....81.8....3.6.....3.1....2.3...0.6...0.2...14.6 (JG 43 gms) 12.1....46.4....41.2.....6.4.....75.0....3.5.....2.1....2.8...1.1...0.4...16.5 (JG feb). People just need to let things play out. I was neither a Kobe fan nor an MJ fan as I saw them as ball hogs; but everyone seems to idolize them now. So, Rockets didn't get Mobley.....my thinking was they would get Jalen Green and Chet; which could be pairing the next MJ/Kobe with the next Durant. Now I can throw Jabari Smith in there as well as an option I would do it all over again. It's always been the fatal flaw of the Mobley mob.... that Evan is the last unicorn. No, others are coming down the pike even as we speak. This very draft approaching.
scottie barnes last 3 out of 4 games: 9pts, 5pts and 9pts. And I've been posting his mediocre numbers every 3 weeks or so same for the rest of them as they are ROOKIES, Jesus take the thread. Thread is almost as toxic as the VY rookie or Deshaun rookie threads. Same caricatures posting too. You think they'd learn and let time do its thing
I’m wondering the same thing…dudes basically copy and pasting posts from weeks ago at this point if you’ve read one, you’ve read them all because they’re all saying the same sh*t this thread is a just a bunch of people reheating old, stale, overcooked beef
Yeah, right, I have nothing to do and sacrifice my time for this chat, and I am the one being insincere? Bro, it is a normal discussion, am I hurting your feelings? My point was not what you wrote: I only said you only focused on Green alone while you should have followed most rookies and their work regimen as well. It is only fair to everyone, if you get the whole picture. What is being fair? Fairness got the least to do with it. Am I a complaining that life is not fair to me because I am not a basketball millionaire? Nope. I only watch his games and evaluate his situation from time to time. If you need a break, that is fine with me.
