Australian filmmaker Baz Luhrmann has released the first trailer for “Elvis,” his new film starring Austin Butler as Elvis Presley and Tom Hanks as his manager Colonel Tom Parker. The film covers the rock legend’s growth from dirt-poor singer to global icon, seen through the prism of his complex relationship over two decades with Colonel Tom Central to that journey is one of the most significant and influential people in Elvis’s life, Priscilla Presley (Olivia DeJonge). Helen Thomson and Richard Roxburgh play Elvis’ parents, while Luke Bracey, David Wenham, Kelvin Harrison Jr., Xavier Samuel, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Dacre Montgomery, Leon Ford, Natasha Bassett and Yola co-star. IIRC big news. Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson, the wife, got Covid on their way to Australia meeting up with Luhrmann.
he looks more like a young travolta than elvis. tom hanks doing a good col. tom though - fun facts - he was not a colonel, his name was not tom, he was dutch and he probably murdered his girlfriend in holland. she was found strangled to death and the very next day "tom" hopped on a boat to new orleans and never returned to his home country. elvis desperately wanted to tour europe and england and tom would not let him b/c he was afraid of being arrested and he did not want to let elvis go without him.
