Could have and would have are different. Keeping them likely makes the Rockets a better team. It's not a risk I would have wanted to take. Pointing to a completely different team to say it worked out for them doesn't mean it would work out for us. Going with the best route to the highest lottery odds was a good choice to me.
You wanted us to be bad, yet you were ok with the Rockets offering Oladipo franchise money? How many more games would we have won if he had not gotten hurt?
If Oladipo plays average you could move him at the deadline for a first and a second. Still a decent return for LeVert. Now if the plan was to keep Oladipo long term if he is playing average or great, I'm out.
Do you believe that Cavs are more talented than the Rockets? CF sure seems to believe so. FYI - the Cavs are a top 5 team in the East this season.
Nope. Not if the plan was to keep him long term. If they were offering him that money with the intent of keeping him post deadline I am out on that thinking.
By trading them, yet you keep saying it would have made the Rockets draft position worse which did not happen in Cleve. I am just using your scenario's that the Rockets were in a better position by trading him when they could have drafted around the same range as well as gotten more assets for Allen.
The Cavs didn't have JA, LeVert, and Prince last year. Or are you just talking about the Cavs having JA and not being better?
So you are not even trying to have a coherent argument, you just want to believe Stone did the best he could do and ignore all of the other options. You have yet to address the fact that tanking was not even in the equation until Oladipo got hurt, so why not keep JA?
I don't think that tanking was out of the equation. Morey just said a 3 team trade would have been hard because the Rockets were trying to increase their odds of keeping their pick.
Ok just wanted to clear. I am saying it could have. Allen is a solid player. It also could not have. And then you add in that you have to pay Allen that summer. I don't think keeping him was the move for the team.
The Rockets offered him the max, they had no plans on trading him. Which is the entire reason I am knocking Stone but for some reason you are ignoring that fact and seem to be perfectly happy with Stone. That makes no sense.
Then I rest my case. Other than Mobley, Rubio (acquired via Prince trade) and Markkanen the Cavs core is exactly the same as last season. Same team that picked top 3. And FYI - both Rubio and Markkanen are out with injury and Cavs have not missed a beat. Stone not drafting Mobley was also another grotesque mismanagement of assets, but that's a lesson for another day.
After Oladipo turned down the max and got hurt which you keep ignoring for some reason. That is my issue with Stone and trading for Oladipo in the 1st place, he had no plans on tanking which was a mistake in the 1st place.
Rest your case of what? That Allen, LeVert, and Prince wouldn't have made the Rockets team last year better? That Rockets team is different than this team.
