Smart franchises also do not need their fanbase to rewrite history. Rockets need to hit homeruns in next 2-3 drafts, no rest for the wicked. It is not writ in stone (small caps) that the 4 drafted players will be the future championship foundation for the Rockets. I'm okay packaging one or all for a proven young all Star level franchise player. Or taking as many swings each draft and let the young guys battle it out and best player reap the rewards.
Somebody kind enough to recap the game for me because box score looks good for Sengod and JG, but you never know.
The Rockets came out pushing the ball with Schroeder running the point, they moved off the ball, they passed it quickly and they were all getting great shots, and finishing, the Suns had no idea what happened. Once we took the starters out and particularly Sengun and Schroeder we struggled....though we kept fighting and the lead through 3 quarters, the beginning of the 4th Phoenix matched our smallness and started to pull away, then we put in Sengun, and we rallied and got within 2 and had a chance to tie at the very end. It was a great game to watch, we were missing KPJ and Wood, though the team played well in their absence. Good game overall. A quality loss if such a thing exists. DD
I am a Rockets first fan, so if KPJ and Wood are the problems then I'm fine benching them. Play Schroder with Green and Sengun in starting lineup for rest of season. Let's mix and match, now is time to experiment. Schroder/KPJ Green/Jaygup EGo/Mathews Tate/KJ Sengun/Wood Play the hot hands in death lineup.
Poor Sengun. With his play he just guaranteed he'll get 8 minutes of court time next game. Standard f*ck Silas post. So long Cristopher. Hopefully you'll pick your confidence back up somewhere along the line after the unwarranted benching and minute reduction. ie the complete opposite of what your play warranted. This guy really is an actual clown, Silas, isn't he.
Nah, cycling through picks aimlessly year after year turns you into the Sacramento Kings. Team building without a plan or focus turns you into the Detroit Pistons. Despite what a few hapless fans may think, the Rockets are not in a "throw everything at the wall and see what sticks" position. No shortsighted desperation moves necessary.
Green had great games with KPJ. it's just that our offense/defense look entirely different under the vet leadership of Schroder. Yea Suns scored about 30 points per quarter, but it was an actual close game. KPJ can pass the ball and get assist, it just he's not at the level of leadership yet. Hopefully KPJ can learn from CP3's teaching in the remaining game via Schroder. Cause unless we offer him a big contract, i think he's gonna dip. It would b ideal if we didn't have to waste a top pick on drafting a pg and KPJ develops into a better playmaker/floor general
Nah i rather take the cheaper option with KPJ, younger and better shooter. if he can run the offense like today, that's the goal.
Schroder is an 8 year vet and has been PG all his life, KPJ is still learning the position so while he has been stellar of late he will still have games that are clunkers. But FYI, Scoot is averaging fewer TOV and shooting much better 3P% than Schroder in past month. And his passing ability is so underrated.
Schroder pushin' the pace Green gunnn' for ten first quarter points Having them on the ropes all game plus a CP3 ejection Sengod w/ carerr highs & a 3 pt stink finger celebration
If we're playing to win games (which I thoroughly don't believe we are), that should be the starting lineup going forward and both Wood and KPJ should come off the bench. We just played the best team in the NBA down to the wire and we did it as a team. Those starters have chemistry. But lord knows it'll be KPJ and Wood as soon as they're back.
KpJ does not bring rythm and steadiness to the offense. And Wood a long with kpj just compounds the issue. Our offense with him at point looked a lot like the second string looked tonight. Every man form themself and getting terrible shots. His assist numbers and shooting have picked up, but running the team as a good pg is more than the numbers. It's the rythm, making good well timed passes to guys which gets them in a rthym. Getting guys into the right spots. This is why cp3 makes teams better whenever he goes. Schroeder is not near cp3, but the year cp3 took the thunder to the playoffs and competed against the Rockets for 7 games that Thunder squad did not have as much talent as this Rockets team. Pg has to keep everyone in a consistent flow which leads to better rythm, easier shots and guys who are more willing to pass. They experimented with kpj as pg, but it has failed imo. He's not a pg. He is a potentially really talented wing scorer that would look much better cutting and finishing or catching and shooting than he does setting up the offense and trying to pick his spots as well as get everyone else involved. In the long run having him run the show this season pay off because he's gotten to develop a lot but he also has led the tank. Next season though, the Rockets should start a real pg and let that pg get the most out of him and Green as running mates. Ideal scenario is you get lucky in the lottery and get a top three pick and take Chet, jabar or Banchero and move Wood for a real pg. PG Green KPJ Jabari/Banchero/Chet Sengun
